re: NBA 2K14 Impressions (PS4/Xbox One)

Holy ****. No seriously. Holy ****. This game is Just too good. The computer AI. Seriously the computer AI is the most advanced thing i have ever witnessed. I feel like im playing online against another human being. Its scary good.

I absolutely love the ball rim physics. The ball has more weight to it around the rim and it looks a lot more realistic.

The rebounding is seriously awesome. The players clearly box out, make contact and then disengage for the rebound.

Mismatches are a thing of beauty. I had deandre jordan in the post against felton. I backed him down twice forcefully basically pushing him under the hoop. Then when i went to shoot, jordan did this powerful quick little flick shot basically like yo this was a mismatch and imma score mine.

Ive seen cpu double team. Run the fast break. Pick and pop. Run plays to perfecting. They really keep me on my toes. I can never tell when they are running their plays like in the previous games.

The ball physics are so organic. Blocked shots and turnovers just look right and natural. Had a couple huge swats with kevin love and i literally screamed "oooooooooh kill'em!!!" Right afterwards.

This game fundamentally is beyond explanation. Its like they captured every players soul like in space jam and infused it into this game.
Im in awe.
And i love it.

re: NBA 2K14 Impressions (PS4/Xbox One)

I haven't read any other impressions, so I don't know how everyone else feels, but I absolutely love this game. I'm playing on All Star Simulation with Stamina being the only slider I adjusted.

All of my games have a really organic feel to them. I'm 3-2 in MyGM with the Pels so far. I've had some close games, I've had some blowouts and I've been blown out. There aren't really any glaring game play issues that I've noticed - shooting percentages are good, blocks/rebounds are fine, etc. My only small complaint is some of my passes are too lazy, but most of them are my fault, so I can't complain too much.

Overall, this is a great game and I just can't stop playing it. I have two other games - BF4 and Madden. I've only played about 30 minutes of BF4 and Madden is still in it's wrapper. That's how good this game is.

The most glaring issue with this game, however; is MyGm mode taking The Associations place. This has been talked about a lot already, so I'll make it quick. I'm not a HUGE basketball fan, or basketball video game fan. I do keep up with the sport and watch big games, and have enjoyed jumping into NBA 2k a lot the past several years. I like running lots of Associations and taking them to the offseason to sign FAs, or starting one midseason and playing a few games or the entire season from there. MyGM is way too much of a hassle to do this.

I also do not understand who came up with the menus for this game. They are terrible. They look unappealing and don't make much sense, even after figuring out how to use them.

The last thing I'm disappointed in (and only slightly) is the actual gameplay. I believe they have a new engine or something?? Either way, the game plays pretty well, I just don't think it matches current gen gameplay. The disappointment in the gameplay may change after playing it enough and getting used to it, but we'll see.

All in all, I like FIFA and Madden better than NBA 2k14 right now on next gen. I just don't know why they would change so much about their game when it was already a leader in the sports games industry

Overall the game is quite good. But there are things that could make it so much better.

-Ball/rim physics. They're terrible. You don't see nearly the amount of bounces, rimming off and in, etc as you do in last gen. And way to many swishes. Just give us what we had last gen, and I'm happy.

-Put the leg length/torso edits back in. It was in at launch, then the took it out. Makes zero sense. It was a nice feature that made players like Durant look much more like themselves. C'mon 2K, what'd you do this??! Inexcusable!

-CAP. Enough said.

-And I honestly think the game looks a little 'hazy'. Almost like there's smoke in the arena. And I'm not just talking during cutscenes with the lighting. Just look at dark uniforms while playing. Seems too washed out or something.

-Way too many blocks and lose balls once you get in the paint.

-It's way to hard to blow by your defender. If I'm controlling a Westbrook or someone, I should be able to get past them one on one with relative ease. That's not the case tho.

-The lighting/reflections on the court is way overdone. Watch a game on TV. You can't see the reflections from the lights/scoreboards much at all. This may also be causing the washed out/hazy look I'm talking about.

I pray these things will either be patched or in 2K15.

Great start to the new generation tho!

You sound so arcade dude. The ball rim physics are amazing. Best ever in an nba game. Alot more realistic. More weight to the ball.

You complain about too many blocks inside. Would you want no blocks and easy buckets? The blocks and physicality is what makes the paint the paint.

You say its too tough to break down a defender? Not for me. Im watching the weight of the defender and applying the moves accordingly. If you want to blow past your defender everytime set the difficulty to rookie.

And no haziness here. Looks like you need a new tv. Sorry bro.

this a big disappointment, hopefully it's not like that on xbox one, if so the advanced (reditor) roster editing community will be dead.
