The animations really highlight the feel that the players are giving effort and struggling to get to through that block.

I guess the game is too old to buy digitally on Xbox but I just got the demo.

The developers at Madden have seen 2k

Heck, Ian used to keep the game running in the office.

I'm sure Madden is trying to get there.

2K8 would have owned the generation if it had a franchise mode. I played through a season, but starting over with all the stats reset killed the possibility of me continuing to keep it in the regular rotation of games I play. Now, I mostly play a game here-and-there when I realize how disappointed I am with Madden each August. I want to believe that Madden on Ps4 can change that, but the picture is mixed at best a week before launch.

These articles always make me so sad. Why doesn't NCAA College Football 2k16 exist yet..

2k always has dominated the football genre. They will continue to do this if they had the resources.

Lets put it this way, haven't decided whether or not i'll give Madden a try on the PS4. If I do it will only be to add a little variety. I am picking up NBA 2k14 tonight for the PS4 and I can't even play it for another week, at least. I will put down a preorder for MLB the Show because I know i'm getting that game, have so every year the past 4-5 years. I stopped buying Madden at least 5 years ago, stopped buying NCAA the last 2 years. I simply got tired of buying a crappy game. Why invest time & money in 2 games that were mediocre at their best. The player movement has always been an issue for me, the running/throwing motions, etc.

They are more concerned about coming out with the flashy, NEW feature to put on the back of next year's box than worrying about fixing the core of the game. They worked on things pretty much 1 aspect at a time. This year it's running, this year its throwing, this year its pass blocking. They hardly added anything to the defensive side and the special team was never touched. And i'm talking about both games. It was the same game for the most part with a minor feeling of an upgrade at times.

They had no competition so if you wanted football you had to buy one of their games but I realized I don't miss football video games when NBA comes out in November and can easily take me right into MLB the Show which is good enough year round. Those games are fun because of the realism. Madden/NCAA were boring because there wasn't enough good to overlook the ugliness and problems the game had.

Re: OS Roundtable: Looking Back at Football Edition

It is just unbelievably sad that 2k8 is still the best game on the generation. How does the Tiburon developer grave yard still not understand route based passing? Calling a 3 step drop, planting your back foot and rifling the ball to the spot where your reciever was supposed to be was just brilliant and so much fun.

The tackling was so much better, the line play was intelligent, the offensive plays werent made up nonsense and the defensive playcalling was intuitive and real, the sideline interactions, the tv presentation, the after play interactions. What do these Tiburon people even do on a typical day of work? They cant even get uniforms right.

The 2k team understood football and made football. Tiburon doesnt understand football and makes video games.

That video seriously pisses me off.

Re: OS Roundtable: Looking Back at Football Edition

I hate to make the discussion all about 2K Vs Madden. But we must face the facts. When a Game as old as NFL 2k5 which was now produced 2 console generations ago still outperforms certain aspects of a new game that is a problem.

Madden takes their market position for granted. SECA continues to put out stunning games with MLB The Show, despite the fact that they now have zero competition from anyone. They are always building upon old features. rarely anything is ever removed, there is no "3 Year Plan", and it seems they genuinely care about our input.

Madden on the other hand? Not so much. When Ian was heading up the project Madden seemed to really be turning it around. Now with th exception of Ultimate Team Madden has regressed. Franchise mode has been wiped off the face of the planet and replaced with "Connected Careers" and gameplay always seems to be an issue.

I'm not trying to bash, I am just so dissatisfied and disappointed with EA. Madden used to be great. They truly innovated back in the day and they no longer do that now.
