Re: Madden NFL 25 Next Gen Video - IGNITE Technology & Next-Gen Visuals (QJB)

When it comes to people defending Madden we hear the same exact thing every single year. Maybe it's not the final build. Just wait until next year they have a plan. You guys expect too much. Usually everything we see IS in the final build. How many next years exactly do we have to wait? Everything we complain about has been done before in other video games. With that said how are we expecting too much? I can't see how after all this time you guys can still sit here defending Madden... And it's the same defenses you guys use every single year. Look we aren't getting any younger. How many next years will it really take?

Yes, but these videos are showing improvement. I'm not sure why people are getting hung up on living worlds, Rex already said they got the base code in this year for 3d crowds and interactive sidelines. He admitted they didn't get as far with that as they wanted, but did say players on sidelines will interact when players come near them. The player models weren't really touched on much, it's disappointing, but there are a lot more important areas that need improving. They have to lay the foundation for a great game on next gen. That's all Madden 25 next gen is, and honestly, here's a shocker, I'm not sure I'm going to buy this year and don't expect many to either. I expect greatness in the future, we've already been told what is and is not in m25 next gen. Expecting more is setting ourselves up for failure and disappointment. If you haven't listened to the interview with Rex guys, please do so, it will help give you a better understanding of a lot of things for Madden next gen and future.

but when EA says they need to lay the foundation.. it never is done correctly. From the gameplay videos we've seen.. does it not look like this 'new' foundation is just being thrown on top of a rotting infrastructure that has plagued the franchise for a decade? If the OL/DL was the only thing built from the ground up... wouldn't interactions have no similarities to past games? I'm still seeing alot of the same issues. I don't buy that they are truly re-writing certain areas.

We've never had former football guys be the leadership team for a football video game like this. These guys know football they don't have to know about Superstar or my player, they know the X's and O's of the game of football.
I'm curious what level they want to replicate REAL football to. Do they want 250lbs RBs constantly being tackled by cornerbacks one on one? Hell do they even want true gang tackling in the game not just 2 tacklers vs the ball carrier?

Do they want DEs to attack the qbs drop point in the pocket or to just play patty cake with the oline to create a resemblance of a pocket. Do they want to represent the struggle between o and d linemen or just a random win or loose animation at the start of the play?

Do they want defensive backs to play proper techniques (bump and run, trail, shade in, shade out)? Do they want to give us the ability to assign our best corner to our opponents best WR and have follow him wherever he lines up pre snap? Do they want WRs and DBs to interact, jostle, push, pull, face guard etc or do they want them to be 2 individual entities completely oblivious to the presence or existence of one another?

Fact of the matter is we don't know what type of game they wanna make. We do know what type of game they claim to want to make but that's been par for the course the last 10 years and it never comes to fruition.

I haven't bought Madden for a while and I'm planning on getting 25 for the PS4. I'm still holding out hope that it will be a good game but every day that goes by in which EA does not release actual gameplay footage, I get more worried.

At least I'll have The Show to look forward to soon.
I'm 36 and well aware of the problems plagued by Madden. However, I understand it's a video game and does not have true human intelligence; therefore, I enjoy it for what it is. Out of the millions of dollars this game will make, $60.00 of it will be mine. Well a few hundred if you include ultimate team.

I keep bouncing back and forth. I hated Madden, then lately and especially with the Next Gen stuff I started to think I will enjoy it thoroughly, then I read these boards and all I see is negative comments which remind me why I hated it for the past seven years.

But again, my point is that people like you (and pretty much everyone on this forum including myself) are in the minority. MOST people that buy Madden are not aware or do not notice the problems that are pointed out on this forum and think the game looks fantastic.

Most people never put together that all the new videos and information being released does not show actual gameplay footage.

Mere months ago you were swearing up and down that Madden 25 on Next Gen systems were going to "blow us away"

Now you have conveniently moved the goalposts to MADDEN 15!!!!!

Did you or did you not predict greatness for past Maddens as well???

You know who has been a prophet about these games? ME! (and others or course)

I said the game would NEVER, EVER be good on this gen unless they did a total re-write of the game from scratch. That was met with a chorus of OMG then we will have to wait a couple years, etc. etc., I said it does not matter better to have a good game in a couple of years instead of this mess. They never started over and haven't given us one good game. They had a chance to start over many times and even now with new consoles and they're still trying to make chicken salad out of chicken droppings.

If I was wrong with my predictions for YEARS AND YEARS, I would stop making them and re-assess why I've been so bone-achingly wrong for all those years.

I would feel foolish and embarrassed if I spammed the baseball forums guaranteeing a New York Mets World Series victory every year, and likely people would just laugh at me and take nothing I said seriously after a year or two. To then continue calling for the Mets to win the World Series every year people would just write me off as a fanatical fan, or just a fanatic.

I've been a Met fan since I could walk but it doesn't mean I'm dead sure that they're going to win the World Series every year right up until the day they're mathematically eliminated, that's totally illogical.

You're sickened by the negativity, but the negativity has a foundation and can be backed up with evidence.

Your positivity on the other hand makes no sense. All of a sudden a company that has never been great is now going to be great? Why would we expect a great football game from a company that can't make a good one?

Let them make a good one and we'll talk. Wishing it and being "positive" as a consumer isn't going to make it happen, wishing Santa Claus to be real isn't going to make him real, even if we wish it really, really hard.

Now THAT'S hitting the nail square on the head!

Well said.
