I guess i would have expected by now that Tom Brad's facemask wouldn't be magically going through his shoulder pads/jersey.

Still glad im waiting till AT LEAST next year to get Next Gen...

They want their old girlfriend to come back, but she ain't coming back and the only place to direct their anger is on this board. You have good insight and obviously do your homework. I know its seems far fetched but I'd actually like to have a conversation about Madden every once in a while.
I definitely do my homework and I think that's why I'm not upset or disappointed by what I'm seeing because it is exactly what I have been told by those who have seen the game and met with the developers. My initial expectations for Madden 25 next gen were extremely high, but then I was further informed about what to look for and watch for by some of the GC's I normally talk with.

Under Cam Weber this has been my experience:

Before Madden 13 was released I knew they were talking about trying to get some kind of physics in the game. Madden 13 releases and they unveil the Infinity Engine.

During Madden 25 dev cycle, shortly after Thanksgiving 2012, I was told they were working on improving the IE to cut down on the silliness, also working on footplanting and o/d line interactions, but with current gen they were doing the most they could with what they had to work with and wouldn't be able to really get those things right until next gen. This past spring, they said the same thing about the sidelines and crowds, couldn't do those right on current gen. I was also told about the pocket forming being something to look for on next gen.

Now with Madden 25 next gen we are seeing that, we're seeing them working on footplanting and o/d line interactions, formation of the pocket, 3d crowds and sidelines.

For Madden 15 I've been hearing that they are really going to blow people away and that Madden 25 next gen is just the foundation. I've also heard that DB/WR interactions is high on their radar and defense in general will be a big focus in Madden 15.

That's 2 years of consistency between what I've been told and what the devs have delivered. Cam Weber has been established as GM there for 2 years.

I fully expect this to continue to be the case as long as Cam is GM of EA Football.

What happened in the years prior to Cam Weber happened, but I don't judge that anymore. I'm only judging this game based on what I'm being told and what I see in the product under Cam Weber's direction.

This is Rex Dickson's first year as Creative Director, in recent interviews he said things like WR/DB interactions, physics, animation quality, and core gameplay were the high priorities for the near future. Let's see if that ends up being the case next year or just empty promises. I'm extremely confident that those will be the focus just like he said.

For the last few years as you can see, there has been a direct correlation between what I have been told and what was delivered. If I'm being told right now that Madden 15 will blow people away, then that is what I expect it will do.

I know what you mean, though.
I know YOU do. You have always been very honest and I think everyone appreciates that.

My problem is when someone comes in and says "They want it to fail" or "They complain about everything."

And people who make up arguments to defend the fact that they like the game and are excited (edit: not at all about anything in this thread, just a general observation).

You don't have to make up arguments for that!!!! Just like the game! That is okay, I don't think anyone will take that away from anyone. Just don't make up arguments just to debate those that are pointing out valid arguments, geez.

I know it seems odd, but I have ZERO problem with people who have faith in the game no matter what, I was probably one of those guys longer than most.

But I do have a problem when those people interject themselves into arguments urging faith, trust, and false promises. I think we are past that. If you want to like the game, fine, keep it at that. Want to discuss it? Perfectly fine. But don't accuse others of "just wanting the game to fail." A

At this point, that is not fair at all.

Do the critics go too far at times? Definately. I'm going to blow a gasket if I see any more pictures of that basketball game here in this forum.

But at the same time, the defenders go to deep to protect the game as well.

(Obviously not aimed at you Road, just got on a roll lol)

They are holding off on all actual "gameplay" videos until right at release so that no more negative spin hits them before the rush for the early adopters go out and get them game.

Believe me, when you see the gameplay videos that will be released, you will understand exactly why this title hasn't released actual footage yet.

Matter of fact, it would not surprise me for a complaint to come in to the BBB for knowingly falsely advertising a product in stating that the prior videos seen were gameplay, when in fact they were pre-rendered on PC workstations and have zero
to do with the new Gen4 platforms.

It would also not surprise me in the least if both Sony and MSFT have asked EA to not release any pending footage that might effect the initial PS4 and Xbox One sales. The industry tracks what they call a "Global Attach Rate" and also tracks the data on the ratio of initial consoles sold / number of games purchased at launch.

Now my recollection may be fuzzy, but If I remember right, the Xbox had a capture ratio of 7ish, and the PS3 had close to 4. That means for each console sold, that was the average number of titles owned by consumers for each system.

Launch is typically huge and I don't think that either MSFT nor Sony want to have people second guessing any purchase.

If a huge portion of the initial sports gaming population decides to not by a system at this point and time because of their disappointment, then both Sony and MSFT have a lot more to lose than the individual company.

Now that is just my opinion and supported with zero fact ( Sony or MSFT embargo ) or insider knowledge.

Which goes back to what I've always said. For far too long Madden has catered to the kids and the online gamer who only cares about winning the game.

They don't care if they play it realistically, they don't care about true step, or living worlds or none of the junk we care about. As long as they're winning, as long as they have something to brag to their friends about, or as long as they can win that online tourney, they're happy.

If they're happy, EA is happy because they'll continue to buy the game. I can see why they cater to this crowd, because this crowd is the loyal crowd. I think they're now finally realizing that the sim crowd might just have as much of a say as the online gamer/tournament crowd.

Look at the sales numbers for this year, down tremendously. Now, that can either be coincidence, it can be the fact that people are just waiting for next gen, OR, there is much more of a sim crowd out there who is sick of EA and this game and they're finally letting their wallets do the talking.

Either way, I think the new guys at Tiburon WANT to be sim oriented, let's just see how much freedom they have to make that happen.

Do the player models and shoulder pads in BB look realistic?
So people were praising the BackBreaker Shoulder Pads? I must have missed that. What does BackBreaker's shoulder pads have to do with realistic player motion and physics? It's hard to take you seriously some times.

Because that's not how video game development works. Why is there a frostbite engine 1, 2, 3? Why does FIFA have great physics now? Because they started putting them in the game a few years ago, they were laughable, but they stuck with it and have built off of them to get them where they are today. You don't implement new features at 100%, you implement them, then build off of them and perfect them until you get them working near 100% quality.

The old 2k/madden wars may linger but have pretty much dissipated. People just want to play football which is why you couldn't be more wrong.

People here are passionate because they want Madden in the WORST way to succeed.

I remember in college I had Madden 05 on constantly. In between classes I was playing, listening to Bruno, checking depth charts, etc. It was one of the most immersed games I have ever played.

I never played 2k so spare me the trolling nonsense that people don't want it to succeed.

I want to get back to fully being immersed in the game which I haven't been for a while.
Ever since the Genesis days 90 percent of my gaming consisted of video game football, the game I have played most in the past 25 years has had the name "Madden" on it.

ONLY this generation have I played other games more than video game football and it's a damn shame.

I'm a simple man.

A devastatingly handsome man with a prodigious IQ, charming and witty, kind and compassionate to women and children and fond of my pure bred Standard Poodle.

At the end of a long day of golf when I pull out my parking spot which reads "RESERVED FOR CLUB CHAMPION", I would like nothing more to come home, kiss my gorgeous girlfriend, uncork a fine vintage wine and fire up my 60 inch TV and enjoy a nice game of simulation football.

Why EA and Tiburon studios want to throw a monkey wrench into my finely laid plans are beyond me.
