Re: NBA 2K14 Video - Next-Gen Gameplay

The people pulling out the pitchforks because the reviewer didn't sing undying praise is somehow more comical than sad. You don't need anyone's opinion to help validate your purchase. It ultimately boils that that you're upset that he didn't say what you wanted to hear. Get over it.

That being said, I'm impressed. Foot planting seems as if it was finally addressed and the little details and nuances that were displayed were great(although none of the players wearing warm ups was off putting) The graphics don't 'wow' me, but given that this is the first iteration of the series on the new consoles, they will only improve and that's scary - because they're already damn good.

My only gripe is the gameplay critique. I'm not too caught up on it because I honestly didn't expect it to be totally different, and given that, once again, it's the first on the next generation of consoles, I anticipate that by 2016(or, if they make the gameplay jump that was 2K6 --> 2K7) next year, the gameplay on current gen will feel superannuated in comparison.

All in all, the objective should be to evolve and innovate, and detail wise, they are most def making astounding progress from what I've seen. If they can do the same with the gameplay - as I suspect they will - then we all will be in for a great experience this generation.

They have my purchase and I'm thoroughly anticipating 2Ks arrival on release day along with my PS4...I only hate that I'm not going to have adequate time to play this until the holidays. Should be a hell of a game.

Can't wait to see on gameplay in native 1080P, the snippit from gamespot doesn't do it justice but really happy they could give us a sneakpeak even if their vid is compressed so much.

Overall can't wait! if those HD screens are anything to go by then I can't wait.

Graphics look great but not a huge leap...IMO the expected leap so no complaints visually. Not worried at all about the way it "looked" like it played because I don't think it will be possible to tell any difference regarding game-play unless you are actually playing the game and feeling all the subtle nuances of control and AI improvements.

I don't get how some people are thinking all of a sudden basketball is going to look and play different?...Basketball is basketball...Football is Football...Soccer is Soccer. Once you get the basics of the games down there will not be that much changing outside of visual improvements, the feel of the game, animation quality and artificial intelligence.

In general I think many people have unrealistic expectations for all of these next gen games. This is not like the jump from Ps2 to Ps3 or Xbox to Xbox 360...Visuals in all these games are getting to the point that you would need a hologram for them to look any better. I want to see smarter game-play in these games, better quality of online play and options.

We need Gamersyde to get a hold of some footage. That way we can view this in glorious 1080p 60fps!

I couldn't agree more. Unless the sport itself were to change drastically what could people possibly be expecting?

Better graphics, and more importantly better A.I., are what I'm most excited about.

I want to see some 2k cam footage. The lighting looks absolutely incredible though.

I respect that but live got trashed with its lone vid to. So to me 2k plays the same as current. Plus I'm playing current now.

Ugh didn't realize the guy speaking was the same guy but it explains his pessimism. There should be a disclaimer on everything he does.

As for the video I was a little disappointed with how similar it looks to cg. As others mentioned its not necessarily a bad thing but afterreading earlier that "its not a port, its been built from the ground up" I was expecting to notice an immediate difference (aside from graphics). I hate to jump the gun but seeing the leap that was made from 2k6 to 2k7 on 360 I am expecting that next year will be a huge gameplay upgrade while this year is mainly graphics, presentation, and improved game modes.
