I assume that when they say off-line association is gone, that is has been replaced by MyGM. I doubt they are saying MyGM is an always online mode

Better hope their CPU GM AI is next-gen too....

That's a mistake, IMO. A big one. Even EA realized it and brought back multi-user to CF this year.
