FIFA Soccer 12: The Game Which Changed a Franchise

For these look-backs as a part of our ongoing Oktoberfest celebration of the current generation of sports games, the obvious choice would be to find the current-gen soccer game that received the highest score.
But, of course, that wasn’t FIFA 12.

FIFA 11 was that game (though I’d argue that was a product of our scoring system change more than anything, but I digress), and, with the benefit of hindsight, us writers gave FIFA 13 the Oktoberfest Award.

So why look back at FIFA 12? Personally, I think in the context of FIFA’s development this generation, that was the watershed game.

I like Fifa 12, I played it a lot, it has a good authentic feel and pace. Fifa 13 was a bad game for me and I don't play much Fifa 14 because of brilliant PES 2014.

Vast improvement over 11 which was more like rugby than anything.

Good old FIFA 12. I really enjoyed the virtual pro player/manager career mode back then. It's a shame it's gone now..

Re: FIFA Soccer 12: The Game Which Changed a Franchise

...changed the franchise, changed it to worse... Fifa 11 remains the best and most real and compact soccer game you can find today and Fifa 12, 13, and 14 can only stand behind. I am still playing Xbox 360 version of Fifa 11 and it freakin rules. EA really messed everything good they did when they gave us Fifa 12 with that stupid impact engine... The gameplay is simply not at the same level of quality like Fifa 11 is. That is my humble opinion as a hard core soccer games fan.

PS. PES 14 with the new fox engine is really promising.
