I am enjoying the game but I hate when a puck is dumped in and it bounces around like a rubber ball. It happens to bounce over my stick most the time and always leads to the cpu getting it and usually a goal.

The bouncy puck on dump ins is ridiculous. Come on EA this is a silly tweak. Give the puck its weight back on dump in and work on forechecking AI.

I'm also noticing some more issues with the game, goalies just let in 5 hole goals from the blue line and not screened. I don't understand how this is such an issue where goalies give up trying to make a save on the 5 hole.

I don't mind the bouncy puck so much, sometimes it's actually funny to see it rolling then hit a trampoline and fly a foot or two in the air. EA should use the puck physics on a remake of Mutant League Hockey. Imagine a Moon Arena!

NHL 14 Available Now - Post Your Impressions Here

Just got this game this weekend after playing NHL 11 since its release. I needed an update.

Man, I wasn't expecting this. It's definitely more realistic, but after a few games, the fun isn't as much there. The new skating engine definitely works, but man it can be clunky at times. It seems almost like it's too real for its own good.

I definitely need to adjust. I'm getting an NHL 2k10 vibe. I really liked that game, it had amazing moments but a lot of frustration too as players skated out of position or didn't transition well enough.

I must be getting older. I enjoy true to life stats, but I've found myself enjoying a faster paced game, sim style be damned. I believe I had the CPU mostly figured out on NHL 11 and they're smarter now/aren't as easily exploited.

I need more time, but I needed to vent a little bit of my frustrations. I wanted to jump right in and be addicted like I was with NHL 11, but it hasn't happened yet. I'm going to have to relearn the game, relearn my strategies and fine tune my sliders and settings.

Can't wait for it all to click, because I see the potential in this game. I wanna play it for three years like I did with NHL 11.

When they introduced momentum last year, and tweaked it for this year, it really altered how you can play the game. You have to think much more in advance about what you are going to do because you can't stop or turn on a dime. But you will also learn to use other players' momentum against them.

I definitely see that. I know with time, I could get into this game. If you caught me in the mid-2000's, I would love this game. But now, I want to pop it in and hit things and score goals. The de-evolution of my wants for a hockey game.

It's just too clunky for me. It almost seems laggy. I want my stop and turn on a dime back!

I think I'm going to return it and buy either NHL 11 back or NHL 12. I wish I still had all my franchise progress. Ugh, shouldn't have sold it in the first place. I thought there was no way I wouldn't instantly love NHL 14, but here I am. Well, it was a good test to see just how my tastes have changed. Now I know how all those old men felt back in the mid-2000's when the EA NHL and NHL2k rivalry was at its peak. Lol

FWIW, the NHL 94 mode is totally does this. I'm not sure that legitimizes a $60 buy, but it is a fun and fast mode, with lots of hits.

Personally, for that style of play, nothing beat the Pond Hockey in NHL 2K7.
