The NFL loves exclusive licenses. EA is a great partner for them.

I just don't see a realistic scenario of this happening. You think the NFL cares if the game isn't realistic enough, hell they don't even want roughness penalties in the game.

I think it's a foregone conclusion that the exclusive license with the NFL is done because EA has cornered the market and I don't see them paying for it again.

It would take YEARS for any competitor to make a game that would challenge Madden.

They got what they wanted with the initial deal.

IMO, it's too late at this point.

We just have to cross our fingers and hope that at some point, the EA devs are able to convince those making the decisions that there is a good reason to make the game an actual representation of the football we see on Sundays....
What? It's Madden that wouldn't be able to compete with 2K. We all see how much better APF 2K8 is than the latest version of Madden, so what makes you think 2K wouldn't make a significantly better football game?

Honestly, Madden is done as soon as they lose the exclusive license.

It wouldn't be about the first couple of games from anyone else being bad. Hell I fully believe 2k could make a game that would run Madden off the field. It would not be able to compete with Madden on the economic level because EA has cornered the market for the last 8 to 9 years so you have a new generation that when it comes to video football, that is synonymous with Madden.

Heck, APF 2K8 engine with updated rosters and next-gen graphics would be better than Madden. I can see the first couple of 2K football games being feature and game mode poor, but the game-play and presentation just outstanding! The features and game modes will come over time.

I know they don't care, and i even said that i blame the NFL way more than i blame EA for the exclusive license, i just think it's a bad business decision for them, and sales ARE going down, lately, Madden is nowhere near the sales juggernaut that it used to be.

How can't they track the level of satisfaction of their consumers?

Is EA trolling us? Their is no way they can put this out on MNF for casuals if us hardcore sports gamers can't even tell much of a difference.

I never said they couldn't make a better game, did you read my post?

If you think a different studio would swoop in and all of a sudden make a game that competes with Madden you are fooling yourself.

Because of the deal, no studios even have a framework for football games that they are working on right now.

Like I said, it would take years. Sure, I will welcome a new game years from now if and when it comes but they face sales goals and what you aren't thinking of is the perspective of the company.

Hypothetically. If the deal was dropped and 2k came out and made a game next year, we, the sim players, would love it.

The public? Not so much. And unfortunately we are in the minority.

YOu need sales in order to continue to make games. There is a reason when 2k first make their game they sold it for $20. I'm not so sure a price drop would still be an option.

I'm not arguing with you guys, I want the same thing you do. I'm just being realistic.

While I agree with this, it's not about the actual game itself, it's the money. Money drives EVERYTHING. Realistically, 2K couldn't just come in and get another NFL license without paying top dollar; And that's if the NFL even wants to do business with them again after their 20$ 2K5 fiasco.

It's all about making money, and that's what the NFL is doing right now with it's exclusive deal with EA. That's why when I hear all this 2K talk, I laugh. They will most likely not be making an NFL game again, and if they do, it won't be anytime in the near future
