The thing that I don't get, and I know that this is sort of OT, but the discussion is going this way, and it's been interesting so, what I don't get is how they could have beefed up the studio so considerably in terms of bodies, and produce what seems to be a port on next gen?

They have a team that was specifically tasked with working on next gen Madden by their own accounts. They doubled their overall manpower by their own accounts. Let's say for argument's sake, that they were really working on Ignite for 2yrs and not an actual game. That doesn't make any sense to even entertain that thought.

There is no way that the entire next gen team would be tasked with working on an engine. More than half of them are probably not qualified to develop such an engine. I don't say that as a slight against Tiburon either (for a change). The same would hold true for any studio. Not every game developer's forte is physics engines and the like. Dev studios, especially giant dev studios are more specialized than that. Even in a studio this size, there would be some that wear many hats, I don't doubt that, but there is no way that you can convince me that the ENTIRE team worked on an all encompassing next gen engine, especially when it was a collaboration of multiple EA studios, for use on every sports title, and not just Madden. There is no way. To whit, it begs the question, what was the majority of the team, that was specifically tasked with next gen Madden mind you, working on?

For that, I have absolutely no answer. I'm hoping that EA/Tiburon can answer this with a good bait and switch for a change, and show us some video of a game that actually looks like they worked on something other than PowerPoints.

It seems to me that they've done nothing but work on the Ignite Engine, the Living Worlds, etc. while game planning for the future iterations.

If they really have had a dedicated team this whole time working on Next Gen, then it's even more mind boggling that we're not seeing something that looks even a little "different" with the game, besides grass and graphics.

I mean that's why i'm so butt hurt about presentation being the same. All this man power, all this time, and you leave it exactly the same? When you tout presentation and living worlds being one of your selling points?

Count me in to being as just confused as you are.

It is not possible that the entire team worked on Ignite for 2yrs. Not possible. Tiburon is not the only studio using it, nor the only one developing it. Even DICE had a hand in shaping Ignite.

Unless the next gen team is actually tiny, no one can convince me that they just worked on Ignite and that's all.

As Greg Kelly would say, "What else!"

I'm just thinking there is more behind curtain #3. Or better, yet, there better be more behind curtain #3.

If there isn't, I don't know what to tell you.

I'll just sit back, put the feet up, and munch on popcorn.

This podcast from Cam Weber was back in June and it's the first time I've heard it. It's only 13 minutes in length and 75% of it is regarding next generation and the ignite engine.

This is why I've said I'm waiting for more info to come beating down the door because I can't believe what little I've seen for the past week.

No offense to Mr Weber but give me a break, I also found an old interview about Madden 2006 for the 360 before it debuted. http://interviews.teamxbox.com/xbox/...-Interview/p1/

Might want to give it a read and consider in hindsight how EA Tiburon has since admitted about that same game being touted in the interview;

...“I was building games this time last generation. We had nothing running,” Wilson said. “We had black screens and blinking cursors. Pretty much everyone in the industry was dealing with the same thing. As an industry, we collectively got to this point in time completely unprepared.”... http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/...ective-measure

The only thing that matters about Madden is how the product turns out, EA Tiburon has done this dog and pony show of prancing out personable individuals to speak about the game repeatedly. I have nothing against Mr Weber or the other talking heads that have vouched for the effort of Madden but their words have been marginalized by the end result of the product.

I am happy for anyone that is able to enjoy or tolerate Madden and I feel for those that don't but stop hoping anything has fundamentally changed because whatchamacallit said so.

I really think its a matter of the execs saying dont you dare touch the core gameplay. So the designers say ok what can we improve. So we get graphical advances and small additions (coach glass)that slightly impact the way we play the game only if we use them, but don't really change anything to the core gameplay and if you choose not to use them you are playing the exact same game. That to me is the definition of a fluff addition, if you can completly ignore it and get the same experience.

That being said, what I come back to is the one thing they havent done that would not change core gameplay at all. PRESENTATION. Why Madden does not look exactly like a game on Sunday I will never understand. Camera angles look nothing lke a broadcast. Cut scenes jar you out of the game. Barely any stat overlays or camera wipes. Cut scenes do not belong in sports games PERIOD. Yet Madden is filled with them and from what we have seen from next gen it will be again. For the life of me I just cant understand what the reasoning is for not having a halftime and weekly wrap up show that even comes close to what 2k5 had. That just flat out blows my mind and I could not even guess the logic for them not having it in Madden other than they couldnt find a way to get it in under current gen system contstraints (whoops dont have that excuse anymore).

Re: Madden NFL 25 CoachGlass Video With Some Next-Gen Gameplay Too!

I understand the wait and see more gameplay because we haven't seen much. But on the other hand I also think it's just that people are in denial. From the gameplay we have seen so far it looks like the same game we play on current gen. Take the ESPN video for example. If they had not said it was next gen then nobody would have ever gave it a second thought. It would have been assumed it was current gen. Because the gameplay looked exactly the same and the graphics weren't a huge step up. Bad encoding or not it didn't change the fact that the gameplay and presentation looked exactly the same as current gen.

Let's all hope that Madden 15 will take a huge leap into the direction we so long for. Because Madden 25 isn't it. It appears to be a slightly upgraded port of the current gen Madden. Madden 15 will be the judgment day. If it still isn't going in the right direction by then we will just have accept defeat and live to fight another die.

Man, either they don't know how to, don't want to, or just don't care. EA has been trying to push their shoddy, in home presentation on us for awhile, and with these new consoles, it shouldn't be that way.

Give us what we want, REAL TIME PRESENTATION elements of what we see every week on TV. It's disturbing that they know it's what we want, but keep giving us the middle finger.
