You completely missed the point of that. If I want to play a football game on next gen and am not a Madden fan which one do you suggest I buy?

I didn't miss the point. I am suggesting that you save your money and don't purchase a game that you will dislike.

I understand that you want to play a football game on next-gen. But if you hate Madden, why are you purchasing the game?

And people that chose to do that should do what, go sit on their hands in a corner and hope someday a different game comes out. Or maybe some go on a sports gaming website and post their displeasure in nonconstructive way and some in constructive ways. Your whole original statement was about their being too many "loud" voices, my point was why there are more "loud" voices with Madden and its not an EA thing because other EA games don't have that.

Your response basically alludes to, you don't like it, tough we don't want to hear about it.

I am not saying that they should just sit on the sideline and not have their opinion heard. However, many of the "loud" users ruin OS because all they do is bash the game and development studio.

Not very many people here post suggestions and back them up with real life examples. A lot of posts are just blanket statements.

"This needs to be fixed."

"This is unrealistic."

etc.

If you had limited time, would you sift through the noise on OS or go to a community that is constructive and can clearly explain their opinions?

I know it is not fair to some of you here, but a lot of people ruin the experience. Just being real.

I can understand that completely.

Madden has 5 big groups of consumers
1 People that love Madden and everything Madden - Always Buy
2 People that love video game football and enjoy Madden - 95% time buy
3 People that love video game football and don't really like Madden but always hope next year is different - 75% time buy
4 People that hate Madden but have to play video game football - 75% time buy
5 People that hate Madden and refuse to purchase - 10% time buy

The loud group is mostly isolated to the group 5 but also makes up a significant portion of group 4. Problem for people like yourself and others that represent the game is that group is much larger than any other game because they can't go play something else and direct their attention toward that.

But you cant just throw the baby out with the bathwater because groups 2 and 3 are constantly offering suggestions on how to make the game better and again based on sales that is something Madden really needs right now. And maybe thats preaching to the choir because you are here right now, but it feels like more members of the Madden team should be out there looking for solutions.

I personally enjoy the game but feel that it could be and should be so much more. I feel bad that I have just accepted that the developers just can't do any better and have accepted Madden for what it is but I've bought Madden every year since it was on the Apple II.

On OS this is focused more on sim, an area that Madden has traditionally fell very short so you get some in groups 2 and 3 that get a bit more heated because despite traditionally falling short in the sim category EA always hints they want to go that way when most people have started to understand financially didn't make sense in the past. But sales numbers are showing a bit different now and the hit this year was a significant one that seems to be the community calling for some changes.

Bottom line is the license dictates that EA is going to have to put up with more complaining on Madden unlike FIFA because those that hate FIFA can go play PES and never be heard from again. While those that don't like Madden are left with only their voice.

I understand that is the perception because I once asked a GCer about posting on OS and they replied, I don't post there.

I don't think it's anything near the Ian Cummings era, but sounds like that is the perception among the CGer's/ea communitity.

I mentioned a few tools earlier, like, ignore poster and report poster, but sounds like that doesn't even seem like it's a suitable option.

OS's reputation seems to proceed itself, which is a shame, because there are some bright constructive posters at OS.

Dogslax41 - Understandable. It is important to remember that these solutions aren't as easy as people think they are. I wish everyone could visit the studio and talk to the developers. Creating a realistic football video game with 22 characters on screen and pleasing everyone is a tough task. Add in the turnaround time and it is even more difficult.

roadman - I don't like using that option simply because I think it is the job of the moderators to control that aspect. I think people need to realize that while GC might not be on OS...the sim, competitive and casual communities are still heard. Also, the majority of members visit here before going to the studio to write down suggestions.

We shouldnt have to back up our claims with real life examples. The real life examples are on tv every sunday. All you have to do is turn on the tv to see thousands of examplrs.

The reason we complain is because at this point were tired of stright up being lied too. And being forced to play ea sports of we want a nfl game tgat isnt over eight years old.

Ea deserves every bit of the complaining. Ea should be able to watch a nfl game then look at their game and say, our game looks nothing like that.
