Exactly. And the cost of licensing the players as well as the schools and conferences make a college sports video game highly unlikely in the future.

Well, that sucks.

I really liked NCAA games, at least much more than madden.

I wouldn't say it's so much the cost, as the fact licensing the players would make them all ineligible and thus defeat the purpose of licensing. YAY RIDICULOUS NCAA REGS!

If EA could license the players (even if it was only the top few hundred), I'm sure we'd see another NCAA title.

Two possible positives I see coming from this:

1) If they figure out the legalities, and make a game the following year, that means they'll have been able to put more than the usual one year of development into the game. Maybe they get more ambitious, or just fix bugs and make gameplay smoother than a meth addict's gums.

2) NCAA 2015 will be released in 2015. NCAA 2016 will be released in 2016. That's how it should be!

This is, of course, if they end up making a game following next year's hiatus.

RIP NCAA...loved you from the beginning days of PS1(I think) when I created my Hemptown Hammers, oh those were the days. You dwindled some in the end.

Sad. This was an inevitability as soon as the licenses started falling apart and the legal issues intensified. At the bottom of it all, the game doesn't generate the type of profit to justify the legal and PR risks.

Been playing every iteration on some version since NCAA 2003, there have been times I more of an "NCAA player" than "video gamer".
