does an employee not deserve a fair market salary?

Given him a free education. Given him an opportunity to grow as a football player and develop towards a next step of playing professionally.

I guarantee you if A&M or any other college didn't do that for Manziel, he most likely would not have an opportunity to play in the NFL after being away from the game for 3 years.

For some reason I am starting to loose some interest in following NCAA Football because of this.....

Is that normal? Should I just not care?

I like how people seem to forget lots of jobs have low or no pay internship requirements

Also sure education isnt important to most of these athletes, but most won't make a dime outside of what they get for scholarships on their football skills

im going to leave this argument...you people are comparing millions of dollars to a $25K education and "an opportunity to play football." give me a break

Deserving shouldn't even be an argument hear. There are plenty of past/current players that have been in the exact situation as Manziel. Hell, there are plenty of businesses who don't offer that fair market value to their employees. It's one of the "pleasures" of being born in the land of the free.

I don't disagree with the notion that Manziel deserves to get some fair market value for his skillset, but that doesn't have to, or should it, come from Texas A&M. If he was allowed by NCAA policy they would have no issues with him making money off his name.

Correct. Pls see Clarret, Maurice or Williams, Mike. Just b/c the athletes don't value the FREE EDUCATION they are being given doesn't mean it doesn't have any value.

People are going bankrupt is this country to get a college education. Considering how few college athletes actually make it to the show, the education is what will make their lives a success, not the athletic field.

Which is what the entire case is about. It's an anti trust issue created by the NCAA and their policies complicated by their greed.
