Game looks solid, but definitely appears as though their using a similar graphics engine to the older NBA Live games. And has anyone else notice how long the arm sleeve is, so long in fact that it seems like baller bands can't be added, and Kyrie's sleeve doesn't have a hex pad. I do like that they were able to acquire the official Madison Square Garden license. Gotta see what else is in store for NBA Live but looks like a good start.

Re: NBA Live 14 Trailer - First Look (Screen Captures Included)

I can sum my reaction up in one word: disappointed.

I could have used underwhelmed or unimpressed but disappointed was a better choice......

Look, we have all seen this before. Dramatic trailers that depict this incredible game where the players are engaged with one another in an intense playoff atmosphere... The instrumental lead in.... the hip hop kick and phat music break out point for the action, and they zoom in close to hypnotize you with the level of detail in the graphics.... blah blah blah... yadda yadda yadda....

Same ole' EA song and dance and I'm not buying at all......

I want to see 5 on 5, knuckles to the grind, basketball being simulated. Until then, all the fluff means absolutely nothing and EA needs to stop BS'ing with launch supposedly 2 months away.

SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!! (I've still never seen that movie... lol)

I'm not hardcore into NBA basketball like I once was, circa Jerry Reinsdorf and Krause's destruction of the Championship Bulls, which carried over into me being more causal towards NBA video games but I try to pay attention. NBA Live 10 I think was the last NBA Live released before name changes, game play leaks, setbacks and all manner of debacles that caused EA not to be able to release another basketball game until now, yet there are people not only interested/curious to see how NBA Live 14 turns out but actually hyped by this teaser.

I'm not suggesting anyone spend all their time being negative or even skeptical, NBA Live the series inherently brings some things to the table some people prefer in a basketball video game, I get that. What I am referring to is the seeming absence of historical context being applied around NBA Live 14 and it's marketing, for example this 50 second teaser trailer. EA can choose to market this game however they want but it's baffling to me why anyone would be teased or hyped by it. If, lord forbid, anyone were in a coma from the time NBA Live last released until now and saw that trailer, they would probably presume NBA Live had been released every year as usual.

I'll end my mini rant here but it's just surprising to see EA successfully market the return of a failed brand in a competitive genre the exact same way they do their other brands.
For me personally, it's about what they're trying to do. I have been excited since they first explained the direction they were taking with the series. 2k has gotten incredibly stale for me; the big issues that have bothered me about it since I started playing have yet to be addressed.

What EA claims they are trying to do with NBA Live is pretty much exactly what I've been hoping for in a basketball game. Whether they will be able to deliver is another story, but I will reserve judgement until I see it/play it.

"I've seen enough." -said nobody. Of course they need to show more and of course they are still working on the game and won't reveal it until they absolutely have to. I haven't seen 2K next-gen gameplay and can't even find confirmation that it will have all the same modes as current-gen. Both are keeping their cards close and it's understandable--why would you present an unfinished product before your deadline?

Re: NBA Live 14 Trailer - First Look (Screen Captures Included)

From keeping up with the news, I knew this video would be just as they said, a "gameplay trailer", so I really wasn't expecting much. The one thing I'll always say about LIVE is that it always looks clean as far as the players, jerseys, shoe, accessories, stadium, etc.

Especially for this first "gameplay trailer", I knew it would be very short clips of movement. Honestly, I really hope it moves as well as it looks, but if I remember correctly, the producer said the same thing about NBA LIVE 07. I still have that game in my library in awe of how it ever made it to the store shelves.

Until we all see it in motion for a couple minutes with all players interacting, there's not much we can get from what we've seen here. I'm pretty sure this won't be a repeat of the current generation, but I'm really hoping for a solid b-ball product from EA. Technology is too advanced and they have way too many talented people, resources, etc. to put out a significantly sub-par LIVE.

That's because he doesn't wear a sleeve with a hex pad.

And also, you can see Amare Stoudemire's hex padded sleeve at the end of the trailer. Live has their accessory game down pat! But I agree about the arm sleeve being too long, guess we'll have to wait and see.
