Ease up there Notice.

I'm sure Live 14 will be good but you sound very naïve.

Even if bouncetek isn't perfect this year the fact of the matter is they've got a great concept that can only get better as the years progress. I can see a new level of strategy to playing the compe00titively just by having the basketball separate from the animations.

It's up to them to live up to the potential, but it's definitely there.

An animation engine that runs based off real world physics, momentum, and foot-planting. Dribbling that keeps the ball live and is unique to specific players, A.I that is run by actual player tendencies and stats (for the most part). Team specific defenses and offenses. ESPN License? Ultimate team? EASBL?

I see a game where every match can be fresh and free flowing, because they're adding in the unpredictable elements of reality. You never know when the ball will be poked loose in real life, you never know who's going to hit that game winner, you just never know; it's unpredictable. In 2k and Live I've always been able to learn the animations and use them to my advantage when playing other people, and at times I had to stop myself because I knew certain animations were basically money in the bank (cheese).

I feel like Live 14 has the potential to eliminate most if not all cheese, it's a broad vision but I feel they truly have that potential with the direction they're heading in. I can see Live 17 or 18 as one of the most realistic playing (not necessarily looking; animation wise) games of basketball ever.

You ever watch a hoopmixtape of one of those freshman kids in high school and go "Wow, this kid is gonna be nasty some day"? That's how I'm looking at Live right now. You can just see the potential oozing from the pores of this game, and it's still extremely early.

Here's one of those kids above.
Plus this

From the new gameinformer.

The crowds are also better at noticing momentum swings. If an NBA team goes on a run and nails three consecutive three pointers at home to pull even with the visitors, the crowd appropriately goes nuts. When a star comes out of the game after putting up big numbers, the home fans give him a standing ovation.

This game has the potential to be the best ever one day.

Live's crowds always had the best crowd since they went in arenas and got audio. That said this might be an addition to what they had already if they throw in arena specific music and stuff and chants.

Also Notice_O dude potential was the word used last gen every year that never happened so it really means nothing at all. If this company can't prove they can do it you'll be on the PS5 Xboxtwo saying the same thing

I have serious doubts about that 2k trailer. I worry that it will be an instance of over-promising and under-delivery (a la Alan Wake.)

Hol ' up, why are you hating on the man. He made a great poi t and detailed his opinion.

Your reply is valid too. But just wait till the game drops or we see so e better vids. Because you Hartwell may eat those words and be at Wal-Mart release night fighting to get the first copy, and shirt to go with it, buying a live controller to complete the experience. Slow down baby. Like the game says.

I thought it looked and flowed great. My only gripe is the editing. I was looking to see more defensive interaction, but they edited out. But this is the First Look, so I expected them to showcase their biggest feature bounceTek.

Re: NBA Live 14 Trailer - First Look (Screen Captures Included)

I have mentioned this before in another thread in this forum but I'm asking directly now, WTF is about EA Sports that makes some people hype, regardless of the product? lol

I'm not hardcore into NBA basketball like I once was, circa Jerry Reinsdorf and Krause's destruction of the Championship Bulls, which carried over into me being more causal towards NBA video games but I try to pay attention. NBA Live 10 I think was the last NBA Live released before name changes, game play leaks, setbacks and all manner of debacles that caused EA not to be able to release another basketball game until now, yet there are people not only interested/curious to see how NBA Live 14 turns out but actually hyped by this teaser.

I'm not suggesting anyone spend all their time being negative or even skeptical, NBA Live the series inherently brings some things to the table some people prefer in a basketball video game, I get that. What I am referring to is the seeming absence of historical context being applied around NBA Live 14 and it's marketing, for example this 50 second teaser trailer. EA can choose to market this game however they want but it's baffling to me why anyone would be teased or hyped by it. If, lord forbid, anyone were in a coma from the time NBA Live last released until now and saw that trailer, they would probably presume NBA Live had been released every year as usual.

I'll end my mini rant here but it's just surprising to see EA successfully market the return of a failed brand in a competitive genre the exact same way they do their other brands.

I'm not impressed, need to see more. Live is in the position where they have to show and prove. They have a lot to do over the next few weeks.
