Re: FIFA 14 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)

I need to stop playing this demo. The short games are forcing me to attack the opposing team instead of trying to move the ball around and set things up. I hate playing that way. Friday cannot come soon enough. Having season ticket is so great for being able to decide on buying a game.

On a different note, I am in the process of buying my games for PS3 instead of XBOX because I am using my brothers XBOX (which I will return at some point) and will be purchasing a PS4 over the XBOX one. I don't want to keep buying games for a system I won't have because I don't want to spend the $100 to repair my XBOX. Anyway does anyone know of a good XBOX style controller for the PS3? I like the XBOX controller way better and would like to find a good 3rd party controller that I can use for PS3.

Has anybody else noticed the sound effects for striking a ball are pretty awful? It sounds like somebody kicking a beach ball rather than a football.

I can not post the video here cause im using the xbox's browser to navigate, but, i recommend you to go on youtube, and search for CGR Undertow - SC-1 wireless sports controller. It is like a mix of the DS3 and the XBOX 360 controller. And after reading the comments, i think they are not expensive, so it may be a good deal.

Re: FIFA 14 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)

I had bought some sort of usb converter for my wired xbox controller back in the day and it worked. This is old stuff though, like for FIFA 11 or 12. I'm sure there are wireless options at this point.

In terms of the demo, I don't think about the score or the time. I just play the 3 minute halves as part of a longer game. Play like it's 6 minutes of a 16 minute game. Be patient, just enjoy the demo and see what you got for the new game.

With sliders, this game is looking really promising. I don't know what people are talking about CPU not being variable on attack. I've been scored on in different nice ways. I think even vs CPU play will be entertaining for at least 4-5 seasons in career.

I'm starting to get the hang of dribbling options, and I'm enjoying what's coming. Even the biggest bother of all times that is high pressure may not bother me if the physics stick around. It will be realistic, if there is high pressure, don't risk, clear it and try to win it the same way. With the new dribbling and ball control, no more barca style coming out of defense with risky crisp passes with low quality center backs. You'll have to get out of the zone a lot safer, hopefully.

I mixed up mine and Orion's sliders and play a bunch of games with the below settings, I enjoyed it.

World Class, Slow speed, all manual controls
USER/CPU
Sprint: 49/49
Acceleration: 49/49
Pass Error: 50/55
Marking: 67/67
Run Frequency: 60/60
Line HLW: 60-40-45
Full Back Pos: 80/80
First Touch Error: 51/56
* Everything else is default (50)

I'm not used to this sort of community. I never ever change the sliders, only tinker with the user controls. I'll def have to look into it this year. This game plays completely different from older FIFA's. Def need to think a lot more and create rather than just do some quick lob thru pass that has worked in recent games. Gonna take some getting used to with how this game handles, especially on defense. Can't just bring over a second computer to help defend and trap and get back on the attack. Still contemplating on if I wanna get it since I just bought Madden, but I will be getting it at some point.

Upon looking at these I immediately ordered one.

Where did you order one from? I'm trying to find the best deal. So far all I've seen is $49.99 on Amazon.

Re: FIFA 14 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)

So, I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but I guess with the new "dribble touch" thing they removed the ability to knock the ball using the right stick, except when you are sprinting at full speed. Odd. That was pretty much the only way I could draw fouls. Now instead of 1-2 CPU fouls (If I'm lucky), there will be 0.

As much as I appreciate the attempt to slow player movement down, I just can't find a way to enjoy this game. And, maybe it's just my TV, but the colors don't look nearly as bright and punchy as they did in FIFA 13. I can't see spending 60 bucks for this.
