I'm glad 2K14 for next gen doesn't have this mode. Just a waste of resources.

Not to mention they have to release their next-gen version almost right after the current-gen version. So you know they had to allocate a bulk (if not most) of their time and resources towards the next-gen version. My guess is that they did exactly what VDusen said, made subtle (but significant) adjustments to the game-play on the current gen version, and upgraded everything on the next-gen version.
