I love the sound of the controls being "silky smooth". Would you say that the controls are now 1 to 1 or 100% responsive? My problem with 2k last year wasnt the controls but the feel of the controls. It would feel slow and unresponsive while crossing over because you would have to wait for animations to play out and at times the player would do what I wanted. If you can answer do you feel like the new controls and system fix these complaints?

I didn't read anything yet and I don't know wtf I'm talking about yet....I would just like to say that 2K13's controls were niiice...the best ever as far as being intuitive, ,tightness of control, and pulling off moves that I intended. So fixing what isn't broke is not something I'm a fan of. I'm hoping these aren't dramatic changes cuz I pretty much perfected 2k13's controls.

Exactly. Just. know. when. to. stop. tweaking. sh**. 2k13 controls are beautiful. There literally should be zero change to them.

I promise I felt this way when I first read this but now after reading more I think the change is for the better - still will wait for hands on for final judgement though.

I also hated the 2K12-2K13 change initially as well but like you, I love it.

I think this is a #InWangWeTrust moments haha.

Seems interesting at least the new controls but what happens with catch and shoot situations? Holding the right stick would make this more difficult to shoot very quick when the shot clock is expiring.

Re: NBA 2K14 - Rob Jones Briefly Explains The Pro Stick: Dribbling and Shooting

The problem is we can't build on things anymore. Imagine if the rules of basketball dramatically changed every year. If that happened, it would be difficult to become a Michael Jordan, to MASTER the game. Just like the real NBA, if your controls change dramatically every single year, you are being forced to learn a brand new system all over again instead of BUILDING on an existing one.

You tell me who becomes more of a master of a game...

Someone who has to relearn controls every year

or someone who practices 2K13's controls for 3 or 4 straight years? You will learn new subtleties that just build on your existing fundamentals. It's like a guitar player who learns new ways of playing the SAME instrument. He is learning new things here and there, but the FUNDAMENTALS of the guitar instrument remain the same. Playing 2K, it's like we have to learn a new instrument every year instead of building on an existing one and mastering it over time.

Seriously, like know when you have something good. 2K13 was the culmination of years of tweaks and was a great control setup and system. Changing it at all is literally fixing something that was the last thing that needed to be fixed out of any of the gameplay issues.
