Re: NCAA Will Not Renew EA Sports Contract, NCAA Football Series is Dead in Name Only

The removal of the NCAA from the game has no impact on whether a playoff will be included or not. EA didn't put the playoff into the game because of programming and space requirements to implement the change mid-dynasty. If NCAA Football 15 would have been around, the same playoff format we'll see next year would be included. Playoffs will be in next year's game to copy the real life setup.

Once again, the NCAA connection was purely cosmetic. Think of them as a logo and a name -- the same as having Denard Robinson on the cover. Next year someone else will be on the cover but the rest of the game won't be impacted by that.

So it seems like as long as the CLC and CLPA (and the relevant institutions and bowls they represent) are still interested in being in the game it should be business as usual minus the NCAA pennant logo here and there, and the use of the acronym.

Sounds like the "NCAA" name was kind of like the Madden name in recent Madden titles. It served more as a name brand identifier than any specific utility in the game's licensing of actual teams and leagues.

I think everyone knows that. However, NCAA was needed for the basketball NCAA tournament.

Perfect chance for EA to put the Div 1aa teams back in. Those were the days.

I did see the NCAA so I guess EA can just pay CLC to license NCAA that way, lol.

I was going to skip NCAA Football 14 altogether but now I'm going to have to pick it up as a collector's item. I will wait til it's on the cheap, tho.

This is huge news. Even if cfb still goes on, this pretty much may kill any chance of a cbb game coming back since its impossible to have one without the ncaa tournament/March madness being officially represented.

They could, they would just have to rename it. NCAA doesn't hold a license to a 68 team bracket. EA just wouldn't be able to use their name or logo.
