2K isn't doing much. Read the first paragraph again.
Or the first and last lines of this guys post...

For the 329568340928092450237859723405309148037580937850th time (we should really sticky this) AKI is dead. AKI is gone. AKI is now called Syn Sophia, haven't made a console game since 2009 and currently make absolute crap for the DS. Anyone that worked at AKI when they made those old wrestling games is probably long gone.

THIS is what they make now:

Well, then they should just see who owns the rights or whatever to the old mechanics used in WCW/nWo Revenge & No Mercy and buy that from them. It's pretty obvious by now that these same developers that have made this games use them as a constant experiment instead of being able to develop a good formula that sticks around! And that's what AKI was outstanding at & maybe why they're still brought up as solutions to the crappy direction WWE games have taken.

If you look at WWF WrestleMania 2000 & No Mercy the one thing that stayed the same was the mechanics from Revenge, they just took advantage of a bigger license to add game modes, further the career/story mode and experiment with other little things WITHOUT messing with the gameplay. From what I can recall THQ's games have been on a constant change from a gameplay mechanics standpoint since HCTP! Heck, on this current gen alone they've changed the controls like 3-4 times since their first game in 2008!!!

you have the reversal options you want when you play king of colloseum 2. Instead of you all waiting for this wwe waste of time, you should learn to make characters for koc2 and upload your save files and we will all have the guys we want by working together. Run it on your pc if it is decent enough, no need for a japanese ps2 or modding options.

Re: WWE 2K14 Hands-On Preview

pic 1 i get caught throwing a kick

pic 2 as he grabs my leg we both input for a move.
if i win i get a step over kick, enziguri etc.
if i lose i get atomic dropped. head and arm tazz plexed or in this case dragon screwed. we both have about 6 options in this reversal position alone

pic 3 shows me reversing a german suplex and instead of flipping behind him which does happen often benoit instead elects to no sell the german and is back standing before hakushi who is now dazed as you can see in pic 4. allowing for a triple h high knee off the ropes or if late in the match a potential hansen lariat or clothline from hell for the uninitiated. check the time from pic 3 to 4 for reassurance. this reversal was also in virtual pro wrestling 2 and is great to see again.

i hope 2k14 can give us something this dynamic, i hope i explained it properly bnut any one who has played it will know what i mean.

The best part of the new games is the inclusion of the community share feature where you can literally import any fighter you want. The worst part has been the story mode.

I like GM mode, I like liked how they started in Shut Your Mouth!, where that evolved into Here come's the pain was incredible as well. I also remember SVR 2006 was fun with its story. They need to bring that back. THQ got lazy IMO by rehashing old storyline, but it was still memorable. Felt like it could've been release for half price as a DLC.

Finally, I hope online is not as difficult. I play against the PC on the harder difficulties, yet online I get destroyed. It's like I get reversed and running DDT spammed all day.

I don't really like the sound of the reversals. Why don't they just go back to separate buttons for strike and grapple reversals? Some of the other stuff sounds cool, I mainly just hope they can iron out the kinks in the AI. No more taking the table apart every single match, or constantly doing pull back moves when performing an irish whip near the ropes. And for the love of god, will the CPU actually use signatures and finishers at the appropriate times?

There are tons of little things as well that could make the experience better, like allowing more customization of the standard roster, beyond just changing colors. Also, I would love to see the "attire change" option provided at the very last second before the match. I hate not being able to change attires in Universe mode when there's a title match, etc.

C'mon 2k, you can do this!

Re: WWE 2K14 Hands-On Preview

weedboy,

The Japanese definitely made the best wrestling games to this point. The KOC games were definitely some of the deepest and best wrestling games ever. There's also the Firepro series. The programmable logic options for the wrestlers in them was insane.

Yes sir. I still play both on my pc with pcsx in 1080p and they look good enough for me to still hold out on these new games.

I just cant take these wwe games seriously. For one anyone who does not turn off slow motion finishers is an idiot and should'nt be involved in discussions about improving the game. We should not have to adjust stats and pay a dollar to do so at that. They are speeding up game play when it is way too fast to begin with. There is no match pacing or ring psychology by the ai in any shape form or fashion. I dont want to do strike combos in my matches, I would like a little back and forth alot of 2.9 counts and a sense that I can actually lose if I don"t play hard. I don't want to fill a meter to get a finisher making every match so predictable. I don't want to set house rules either to enjoy myself.

Here is an example of what i want. I was playing a game of fire pro as kurt angle on cpu level 8 in fire pro. My opponent is jeff hardy and he was really putting it to me. 15 minutes in and I still did not land a successful move and i was worried because in story line kurt was due for a title shot and should have squashed this guy. Low and behold after landing a ddt on me he goes up on the top turnbuckle and decides to taunt before attempting a diving splash. Well I was able to roll away and he fell flat. I quickly stood up and pressed circle at his legs for a angle lock and thank god I got a fuc@#n
critical. Just like on tv a guy can get his *** kicked and still weasel out a win. In this game a small package is as deadly as an f5 if you make your character correctly.
