I'm sure the legal beagles will find a way. I can't imagine no college football on the Next Gen (XBOX 1 & PS4).

From what EA said...it was a mutual thing...so they must know the advantages of not having NCAA involved.

NCAA was a crutch in the beginning to convince people to buy the game...but now all they give are advertisements in the game...EA no longer needs them

Good step forward imo
I agree.....given the info in this thread I don't see EA needing the NCAA label to make a great college football game.

It would be great to see having to choose to suspend players who have violated team rules during your dynasty again (I'm pretty sure the NCAA played a part in getting this out of the game).

The only issue may be the future playoff system (I think the NCAA organizes the current BCS system....but I could be wrong) but that is an easy work-around. They can still have a 4 team playoff but just don't arrive at who makes it in the same way that the NCAA will figure it out.

I'm sure if you asked a lot of coaches/teams they would have plenty of negative things to say about how the NCAA goes about setting the rules. The Big 12 wants to have the option to have a conference championship game but they have to petition the NCAA to do it because of their rules. I'd imagine if you asked the head of the Big 12 he'd say it shouldn't be the NCAA's business on stuff like that and conferences should be able to make those decisions on their own.

The NCAA does not govern the current BCS system.

Cool people are answering my 1st question but what about the other question?

Why aren't the CLC being sued if they are the sole reason these games even exist?

I don't understand how they are hurting financially. They'll make tens of millions of dollars off Madden 25 in a few weeks. I understand there's a lot of costs involved, overhead, but the game industry as a whole is still doing quite well. See what Call of Duty did last year. Not under EA label, I know, but still ... in general, money being made. Sports games? Probably has taken a slide, but EA itself should be just fine.

Not only that, but there's no guarentee that the prices are going to stay the same.

I know EA came out and said there would be a game next year. That's cute and all, but EA is hurting bad right now, and I don't think many people on here understand that. This is nothing but bad news for EA even though the NCAA isn't the all-in-all rights holder. It becomes a question for investors: "is EA doing the right thing by keeping this game afloat while the NCAA is ducking for cover?"

I understand people being "rah-rah!" and all, but you have to step back and look at the bigger picture. This is about more than a video game here.
One thing about EA and this series: Owen Goode said this is the 3rd largest selling sports game/franchise in the US. That's nothing to sneeze at and I can't see why stockholders would be so willing to give that up so easily.

NOT KNOWING ANYTHING IS AWESOME, BECAUSE NOW I CAN MAKE STUFF UP!
The NCAA has gone way too far with how they define "taunting" these days so if one of the results of this is seeing some of what we've had in the past then I'd say this will be for the best. The suspensions thing would be a great thing to see put back in dynasty.

Here's a great example of how the NCAA has gone off the deep end in regards to "taunting" -

- how they did that to a punter who never scores a TD is beyond me.
