Maybe we'll see a college football again some day when the legalities of all this are more firmly defined.

I do hope we still get a patch. I'm not sure how long EA will support the product, but hopefully we get one update.
The license is good until june of next year, the VERY least they should do is perfect this game if they do not intend to make it anymore.

If the O'Bannon case goes the way its looking this decision won't necessarily mean the end of college football games. Unless the NCAA finds some way to settle with a massive check then the O'Bannon case could be the first domino in the end of the NCAA all together.

The O'Bannon team has a pretty good line on an antitrust case and if they win a judgment against the use of likeness in the NCAA series their next step is going to be to go after TV and merchandise revenue. In the end it will more than likely result in universities and individual athletes being able to license out their likeness. As long as they get together and form some kind of union (which would be in their best interest) then it would give merchandise and video game companies a central negotiation point that could possibly give access to using actual names and likeness in the game.

EA will have to work with the individual conferences like they always have to get rights to logos, stadiums and uniforms. Same with the BCS. This just affects the ability to use the NCAA mark.
I know. People need to think for a second before going crazy, lol.

EA would have to release the game in May.

I'm interested/concerned to see how this impacts EA's committment to patching issues and customer service for NCAA 14.

All the roster makers, who stole OS rosters & charge people for rosters, are probably crying right now!
