Re: First Madden NFL 25 Screenshot, First Details on Run Free Ball Carrier Feature

From MMChrisS on the NCAA side.

Again, not sure if this will be shared tech or not, since nothing is confirmed on the Madden end.

NCAA Football 14 will see the introduction of the Infinity Engine, EA football's real time physics engine as well as a new feature called the 'Force Impact System'. The infinity engine will be ported over from Madden and improved somewhat over the Madden NFL 13 version, giving NCAA it's first taste of real time physics in the series' history.

The Force Impact System seems meaningful as well, with new physics introduced to the running game -- including true foot planting which accounts for weight, speed, and more when changing direction. There will be improved stiff arms and line play with the new physics, and improved blocking AI which I was told was completely overhauled. NCAA 14 also will feature a new speed burst which will trigger automatically when you get into the open field.

I will have more on all of these features as I polish up an article from a recent interview I did with EJ Manual, former Florida State QB. Expect that to hit by early afternoon!

Speed burst, yikes. lol

Re: First Madden NFL 25 Screenshot, First Details on Run Free Ball Carrier Feature

Everyone keeps talking about the RB getting all the attention, but the quote is "run free ball carrier." This means anyone with the ball in open field. I'm very interested to see if kick/punt returners get the love they've been missing, as well, of course, will we see Megatron get the YAC's like only he could - will we see Welker get YAC's like only he could - will their weight and/or agility factor accordingly..???

So, like most of you are saying....give us the trailer already!

Edit: P.S. I just read the NCAA stuff, and it all makes more sense, now. They are adding every possible option play to likely both games. With everything Manziel and RG3 did last year (Kaepernick and Russell, too), then the first step-foot plant and then run free refining of the Infinity Engine was tailored for running read/options more effectively. The upside to this, though, and do pray this is true...read/options MUST rely on effective/better OLine blocking/interactions. By default we may be in store for a bunch of things we've wanted fixed, just because the read/options got super popular.

took this from the NCAA 14 on ESPN. I'm glad they're finally addressing these issues. I just hope it looks fluid and realistic and not the twitchy, robotic animations we've seen from Madden in the past.

Got excited when I read these, holding back excitement until I see it in motion:

In “NCAA 14,” the running back will stick his hand out and sidestep the blocker instead of making things easy on the defense by falling backward to the turf.

Running locomotion has also been improved so direction changes will actually incorporate players making cuts as opposed to zigzagging their way down the field like past iterations. Auto sprint has also been removed in favor of an acceleration burst mechanic. So now, players won’t be running at full speed at all times. Using the right trigger, you’ll be able to burst when you feel like you need to hit that extra gear. But it’s not like you can turbo your way up and down the field at no cost, as EA has also added a fatigue meter at the bottom of each player, letting you know how much energy you have on every play based on individual player ratings, and the more you do jukes, cuts and sprint, the more you’ll notice your meter drop dramatically.

Actually, im sick and tired of "features"!

This is stuff that should always have been part of the game of football all on its own. The naming of these features just turns me off completely instead of them just addressing "hey, we think we have nailed down key game play issues". Listing them as features only hurts there credibility even more as the next iteration the feature is never to be heard of again in most cases.

Like BigF said and I have been pushing for years, enough with the CD teases or whatnot, just give us that Battlefield 4 treatment unless you're not too confident in what you have. Thats whats gonna speak to me outside of a demo!

All in all, it sounds ok, but nothing that seems to taking this game into the direction one would hope for nex gen!

How can I say this with out coming off "negative"????

I don't care, EA Football is basically dead to me. I've come to the realization I won't have a football game that resembles The Show, at least not until someone other than EA can make it.

No! Do not want!

How does this work with overall fatigue and what is the recovery rate of this?

This almost sounds like how it was done in 2k with the charge up meter.

Just make fatigue actually work like its supposed to with out an energy bar being used and let it be told by the way the player controls if he is fatigued or not like he should be. Having a meter and not knowing the cool down regen period is asking for all kinds of crap imo. Good effort but it seems like they're still appealing to COD kids for those casual cool down form COD games!

I have to agree with the naming of features issue. Realistic running animations and footplanting, good o-line play are core fundamental aspects of football. But c'mon man (Keyshawn voice) it's EA we're talking here, the ultimate marketing hype machine. They have to have something to lock in instead of just plainly saying we have vastly improved all the animations, AI, etc and just show us.

Re: First Madden NFL 25 Screenshot, First Details on Run Free Ball Carrier Feature

I would like to add (and I would really hope this is an option) that the fatigue bars/meters better have the option to not be there on the screen the whole time I'd be playing the game. It's one of the most annoying things about playing other games, as well. I hope it's just visible when you hit R1 to check your hot routes and such.

P.S. Besides the fact, of course, we've already had this to an extent with the changing of colors per positional player when selecting your play in the first place.
