And you probably haven't even looked at the options menu of which you can customize to no end. Geez...

Edit: I don't know if he was talking about Live Tournaments or Quick Tournaments. With Live Tournaments you can't change those options but with Quick Play you can. Maybe you guys should be a bit more specific, eh? :-)
When I changed anything of significance, the difficulty moved from "SIMULATION" to "CUSTOM" and reduced the multiplier number (like Forza 4). So it looks like to play EAs version of "SIMULATION" means you don't toggle those settings. Fair enough.

That was the entire point of my post, though - that playing it on the true SIMULATION mode isn't really tournament golf simulation IMO. But I doubt that TW14's main audience is those of us who want a true golf experience. We actually play real golf all spring/summer/fall so its not a huge deal. For the TW14 demo though, I actually prefer to change it back to tour pro but get rid of things like adjust spin after impact. Seems the most natural to me (considering its a video game, nothing is going to be perfect).

Would also be nice to play this game without it looking like 430am. I think the final version will look MUCH better.

My understanding is yes.....

If EA put in yardage books that looked like this, heads would spin for many of those playing simulation mode...

What about if they just put the holes in there and we are responsible for jotting down our own notes... One of the things I mentioned to one of the devs when I was there for Community Day is the option to jot down notes mid round in your caddy book and have your caddy book be an option when loading up the next hole... Hopefully on next gen consoles there is an option for a touch screen to jot down notes mid round, would be legit.

Where did you get this pic? That is insane, but to the pro that uses this, it makes complete sense. Maybe they give us a picture somewhat like that but just the graphic of the course layout and let us write our own notes. Or what I had in mind is just a picture of the entire hole tee to green, with distances to all hazards, front and back of green and to the 250, 200, 150, and 100 markers. From there we just do the math once we are in the fairway.

Ex: if your "to pin" dist is 474 from the tee and the pin is tucked behind a green side bunker. In your book it says to carry bunker it is 469 from the tee. You hit your drive say 300 even to keep this simple. you are in the fairway now, the "to pin" dist is 174. So that would mean it is 169 to carry the bunker so your probably gonna hit a high soft 8 iron so you can carry the bunker and get it to bite and stop.

Does that make sense? You would still have no zoom to aim with, you'd still have the shot shaping the expert difficulty swing meter, no green grid, but at least you could plan your approaches and tee shots the way the pros do. Idk maybe it's just me, or maybe that would even make the game too easy, I'm not sure. But it's just what I had in mind when I thought of yardage books etc.

1) Not being able to see pin location - this is riduculous. You have this available to you with any tournament you play in.

2) Not knowing wind strength - this is ridiculous. You may not know exact strength but you will have a good idea (light, strong, very strong, gusting, etc...)

3) Not being able to zoom forward nor see yardage book - this is ridiculous. Much like knowing pin locations, you map this stuff out ahead of time. Especially if your Tiger freaking Woods.

4) Pitch/chip mechanics - not a fan at all.

5) Fade or Draw choice - I'm ok with this. Typically you play for one shot as you rarely (if ever) aim right at the target and hit your ball dead straight.

6) No idea on green break - ridiculous. You should be challenged to learn how to read the greens.

IMO, if the TW series could take the mechanics, physics and gameplay from Hot Shots Golf OOB and let you use it with real players, real courses, real tournaments, you'd have yourself an amazing game. HSG is the closest to representing real golf IMO. Yes, cartoonish players, goofy courses, blah blah blah. But in terms of being a game that you slowly master without it being cheap (see the 6 issues above), while relying upon understanding ball physics and terrain mastery, its as good as it gets.
I have always thought that all HSG needed at least on this generation was real players. I like TW but the other game is a lot more fun. Ball physics might be better as well.

No disrespect to your opinion, but I'll agree to disagree ....

I think people are getting confused on what hardcore TW fans are versus hardcore GOLF fans.

Simulation is meant to represent the game of golf, no? If so - then the yardage book needs fixing. It's ridiculous that I do not know my front/center/back yardages of the green.

There is no defending of this being omitted. It's as simple as that - no point in arguing.
