Alright guys, so "the baseball game" we got in at work was the Show, not 2K13. I anticipate the game coming in Sunday or Monday and I'll be getting it then. I apologize to those I got excited.

But I will also say this is a good example of why 2K ought to be promoting their freaking game. Flying through at-bats, ignoring inside edge information, turing off the strike zone so you lose batter's eye all make the game seem way more shallow than it is. You are not familiar with 2K12, so it seemed like you didn't understand the overuse signal.

I know you have limited time, and I don't blame you for opting for aesthetics over data, but it kind of highlights why so many people don't get what 2K did that made 2K12 such a good game. Obviously aesthetics is not one of those.
So he played the game wrong ?

I kind of chuckled when I saw that, and stuck to Real Time (although you'll see me skip through some sequences to get as much out of my camera battery as possible).
2K10 is the "Real Time" setting from 2K10. It's basically middle setting between Real Time and Hurry Up. People complained that 2K10 ruined Real Time, so they went back to the original setting, but left the 2K10 setting for everyone that liked it.

It is faster than Real time, but you still get all of the stat overlays and such.

No no, I know what it is (remember, I own 2K10). I just laughed that there was an option that was actually called "2K10" is all.

Re: Some MLB 2K13 Ratings Revealed, Along with a Few Shaky-Cam Videos and Impressions

Does the framerate still stutter when swinging?

Overall I think teh game looks good and like they fixed most issues with 2k12. It still looks like they patched 2k12 though and you can tell they only had 3 months. Kind of a shame because I think the game is good. Would have been nice to see what they could have done with it with a full dev cycle. If we get solid gameplay and visuals without new menus and flash that's a decent tradeoff imo. Still basically the same game though.

The colors being correct makes a huge difference. Seems like they fixed the runners heads bobbing back when running as well. The game just seems to flow nicely. Kind of like 2k12 post patch with better colors and a little smoother. The graphics seem more legit. 2k12 was very cartooney looking which I actually liked though..

Probably won't get more than a 6/10 for reviews but in reality it's a solid 7 or 8/10 game.

I think in past years this game was so far behind the curve it really warranted buying a ps3. Now not so much. I think this game competes. Curious what they will have for new modes or extras. Was hoping they'd include legends this year but might not have had time.

End of cycle. Even with a small update just goes to show these games are fairly polished at this point. Even if it's just slapping on new paint. I am somewhat disapointed though because with a full year and effort this game could have been better. But that seems to be the case every year so that's no guarantee. I guess we'll have to wait until next gen.

Looks like a good not great game per 2k standards

You are turning off one of the biggest advantages of 2K baseball by doing this imo. Batter's eye actually allows the game to differentiate between free swingers and guys that work pitchers for walks. It's based on player ratings so guys with good eyes get tipped more often. Yes it flashes too much on default (I liked 25 for the slider in 2K11) but it's a great, great feature and brings realism as well.

In the other game or without hitter's eye in this one there is no difference in your eye at the plate. You bring the same skill set in reading pitches to the batter's box as Miguel Cabrera or a pitcher. This game allows you to value the lighter hitting guys with good OBP. I do understand not liking to see video game displays and having to keep strike zone on to use it is not the best but I think you are missing out by not using this feature.

Not totally true on the other game, there are some under the hood things going on.

However, I agree with you about the hitters eye. Love that feature, and to me was one of the few endearing features of the MVP series. It really adds to the pitcher/batter duel, IMO.
