I was actually hoping they were going to show the players from the starting lineups getting introduced and running out individually. Not just a 2 second clip of one guy slapping high fives from the rest of the roster before they move on to the next scene.

The Commentary on The Show is decent. I think it is so beat to death though all ready.

I feel relaxed as well as focused at the same time when playing the game and I am glad it is not over he top for the most part. I have played well over a 1000 games between 2009-present. In the grand scheme it has not hindered my pure love and joy for this game.

Yes 2K Basketball is the gold standard. No question.

I even think 2K baseball has great play by play. But it is not that much better (2K baseball not Basketball). Better yes....but not worlds better IMO. Dare I say too much chatter? And in baseball....IMO it is not needed. All depends how you like to enjoy the sport. I am too focused on placing my pitches, checking the match ups, at bat getting focused and looking for certain pitches....most of the time the play by play an color comes in right when it should....after the hit, after the pitch and it does a decent job. Sometimes I hear things I never heard before each year I play the game. They do add new lines every year.

Can it be better....absolutely. Is it keeping this game from being the best console sports game on the planet?

Oh come on now......hell freaking no.

And this is a home video.....I turned it off right after the pre-game intros (which were pretty awesome). Nice touch with post-season mode so far!!!

Can't wait till next week!!!

And buried in this thread are tidbits of people pointing out issues with stuttering which would have mucho the far reaching implications on the enjoyment of this game...yet no one seems to want to talk about that. And how about the impressions I have heard about how easy it is to hit because there are much more meat balls thrown?

These are topics worth discussing but this thread is commentary bashing and nothing else which is frustrating.

For me, great commentary gives a game heart and soul and that emotional element translates to playability and old fashioned fun. Based on what I've heard in this video, I'll be skipping The Show this year and sticking with MLB2K13, for all its undoubted flaws. Maybe I'm in the minority but I prefer quirky company with something interesting to say more than that of beautiful people with no conversation!

They are there. A few early ones I noticed. I'll have to watch the gameplay closely to see if it happens then. But I didn't find these jarring or anything, granted it was shot off a camera so I'm sure it'll be more noticeable on a TV in front of your eyes perhaps.

edit: Sorry had to point it out as rewatching the video I heard it like 5 times. Honestly though this might be the most authentic piece of commentary in the game. How many times have you been pissed off at an announcer calling a pitch wrong? I know I have.

This isn't football or basketball.

What exactly do you mean the announcer calling the pitch wrong? They say " 1-2 is an off speed pitch. No dice its 2-2." The pitch was a change up which is an off speed pitch. The other then goes on to say "All hard stuff here to get ahead. But now the're trying to get him out with breaking ball and he's not falling for it." The pitch again was a change up which does break. Now 2 of the first 3 pitches prior were fastballs and 1 change up. So that is wrong.

A changeup is not a breaking ball. At least I've never heard it be referred as one. If a CH is considered a breaking ball then yeah there is nothing with that commentary.

But I always thought there were distinct categories of pitches.

Fastballs (2-seam, sinker, etc) , Changeups (circle CH, palmball, etc) and Breaking balls (curveball, slider, etc).
