Re: MLB 13 The Show Video - The Show Live

does anyone know if when we get the game on march 5th, will we be able to play games from the 2012 mlb season? or can we play spring training games from march 2013 or must we wait for the 2013 mlb season to begin?

thanks.

Noticed the rangers video board is not updated like I inquired about in the stadium thread. Us this just an old build or did they not have time to correct it? I know theSLAB told Greg about it, any news on that front?

Well after reading it again, it looks like I just copied exactly what you wrote.

I guess I was overly excited to get my thought out there even though your was the same thing.

So that no matter when I played that particular game, I would only be able to play with the generic player.

Make sense?
It does(make sense...and is a good question)....and I think that if the player is on the updated roster from later in the year....he will appear when playing that earlier in the year game.

The only downside to this mode is not being able to use the OSFM roster. I sure hope SCEA has looked at adjusting the pitch speed differentials; I really don't want to play game after game against pitchers with 95-mph fastballs and 78-mph changeups.

This should be alleviated - they're directly affiliated with MLB.com and therefore MLB gameday (pitch f/x) as well. The big issue now is pitch classification and movement, since the system only designates 12 pitch types (I believe The Show has 18 types), don't expect to see these pitch types with any regularity: running fastballs, circle changeups, 12-6 curves, sweeping curves, or slurves. It sucks because running fastballs (4-seam with movement) and circle changes are two of the most common pitches thrown in the MLB...

Here are some numbers to put it in perspective:

I have 805 MLB pitchers with pitch f/x data, 262 (32.5%) have a running fastball as their primary pitch, 221 (27.4%) have a 4-seam, 138 (17.1%) have a 2-seam, 89 (11%) have a sinker.

547 (68%) throw a circle change, 159 (19.8%) throw a straight change.

225 (28%) throw a traditional curve, 183 (22.7%) throw a sweeping curve, 42 (5.2%) throw 12-6 curve

478 (59.4%) throw a slider, 87 (10.8%) throw a slurve

446 (55.4%) throw a running fastball, 303 (37.6%) throw a 4-seam

I like the part in the video about using the Vita to keep track of box scores. That'll be updated in real time?

Those numbers are from labeling pitches by movement, and not how the pitcher/scout/people call those pitches, correct? The complication here is that the name "circle change" derives from how the pitcher grips the ball, and not how it moves. There are many guys who throw (straight) change which moves like circle change in the game (tailing action).
