does anyone know how to attempt to steal a post entry pass if you're guarding the guy posting up?

use the right stick to battle and gain better position so that u can get your arm in the passing lane. then press the steal button when they pass to him

I also found just learning a few moves at a time and using them in a game. Then once you are happy then add in a couple more.
Anyway, these points have helped me. I suppose it just comes down to the usual....practice, practice and more practice
Been doing this lately & it helped! i FINALLY beat the Heat as the 76ers in my associations, 12 min quarters tough sliders. My hands we're getting sweaty at the end lol.

I guess nobody knows how to pull off the signature layup packages. I know some of them are situational but come on they never work. What's the point in even having them in the game if we can't use them. It shows rondo having about 4 different up and unders, d rose have a few pump fake leaners, hell even d wade has a couple that looks like its just a regular contact layup but those animations never trigger. Are these things glitched or are they so rare that we will never get to see them. Let us know something 2k, you don't even tell us how to do them or what the situation needs to be to pull them off. Last years game I was able to pull off Jamal crawfords signature layup and Kobe Bryant's pretty much at will, this year it's freakin impossible. Can we get a tutorial video, hell I'll even take a regular video of somebody just doing the damn moves. Sorry for the long post but this is ridiculous. If its glitched please fix it with the patch.

Alright, to be honest, just as I thought, most of these defensive moves aren't even needed. You can really just succeed with using the right stick to guard players really tight and using the triggers to get in defensive stance. And it is extremely difficult to consistently guard the computer by yourself anyway, so playing off the ball seems pretty reasonable.

Really? I played 2k12 ridgid for a year and only pulled off MJ's sig layup 4 times. FOUR TIMES in one year. I've been doing them left right and centre since i purchased 2k13. They are indeed all situational and rely on your position in relation to defenders. Same as the shimmy packages - there are 3 types of post animation, full back to defender, 3 quarter back to defender and side on into defender - each position triggers different animations on the shimmy, discovered this by mistake the other day in practice.

If the sig animations were command relative, they wouldn't be as special, people would be abusing them left right and centre, I think it's better this way, leaving them situational.

Well I've seen Jordan's layup package work also but I'm talking about the up and unders and pump fake layups like rondo and drose have. Have you seen those in this years game?
