NBA 2K13 Advanced Controls

Still unsure of the 'protect moves' - if you go into edit player there is a section with three or four different moves all under the category of 'protect' Not sure how they are pulled off in game, or what circumstances trigger these.

Also - the pump fake to jab step the CPU seems to do all the time, one smooth animation, can't seem to pull it off. Have tried with both stick and button variations - the animation always breaks after the pump fake so the jab is a seperate entity - the CPU is seamless.

^ Go check out the Beluba's Isomotion tips thread, towards the end. One guy figured it out (props to him, can't remember his username), and a few of us got it to work too.

The trick is while holding the shot modifier button (l2 on ps3, lt on xbox), flick the shot stick in any direction to initiate a fake, then quickly move the shot stick in the opposite direction making sure to keep the shot stick held down.

You're probably asking, wouldn't holding the lt + the shot stick make the player shoot? Well if you get the timing of the move correct, it won't. If you're familiar with the flick-flick moves in 2k11, it's almost similar, but instead of flicking the stick and releasing it the second time around, make sure you hold the stick and not release it. I know, confusing, but once you pull it off it's all good from there.

^Thanks for that Ron. I see that you can also do it by just tapping and holding the shot button.

@Daveberg To do the protect moves you have to be disengaged from a defender, then just by following the controls manual, you can shoot from the protect position. I think Kobe sometimes does it in games. The shot off the one leg that I described on page 51, you don't need to find a sweet spot for the post, you just press Y and then do a fadeaway. You're usually able to take them all the time around the three point area, any closer and you usually just shoot a post fade.

I played a game against the AI where with 3 seconds left in the quarter they inbounded the ball on the floor like they do a lot in actual games so the ball would be closer to their side of the court before the clock started up. How do you do that? I've never been able and this guide doesn't tell me.

It's one of the back shoulder buttons (LT/RT on 360) and pass. I forget which one
