Since the XP system is used to increase player attributes (and why there's no editing of player attributes in CCM) and Mini Camp was used for the same purpose, why not bring back something that has to do with football, is a lot of fun to play and accomplishes the same goal - which is being able to increase your player's attributes without editing?

I dont like the scheme setup because it defeats the purpose of using custom rosters and prevents other things that the user should be able to do but cant. I dont like that the scheme actually increases or decreases overall ratings. Its stupid. I'm a 49ers fan and im sorry but there's no way in hell that TE Vernon Davis should decrease 5 points in CCM because he doesnt fit the scheme when in reality, he's easily the biggest offensive weapon we have in the passing game and some would argue that Davis IS the passing game. Just doesnt make any sense at all.

Tiburon/EA should go back to basics, add in the stuff they took out for no apparent reason other than to piss people off, and give the user as many options and customizing as possible. It's 2012, I shouldnt be playing a video game that gives me less options and such than what was available a decade ago. Seriously, it makes no sense and is the opposite of what it should and is supposed to be.
I think you are missing the point of xp. It just gives the user control over what ratings can be increased as opposed to the CPU just increasing their ratings based off of who knows what. The only real RPG aspect to madden is when you do a player CCM and then you have practices you have to complete to get more xp.

I agree that a lot of new things that Madden does add ends up not working as intended.

I'm not missing the point of XP. I know what it does and if you ever played last gen Madden with mini-camp, you'll know that depending on the level you complete each drill, you get points that you can add to the attributes which in-turn will increase that player's overall rating.

XP works the same way. Only difference is that its not any fun to play compared to mini-camp and quite honestly and correct me if im wrong but I dont like that if im playing 8 minute quarters, why are the practice scenarios 5 minute quarters? I hate that. It should be the same as what you're playing each game as. It never is. I had the same complaint in NBA 2K11 with the Jordan challenges and is why I believe that none of this stuff should be in game to begin with because in the end, it doesnt work the way it should or is supposed to.

I wont speak for anyone else but if practice was replaced with mini-camp, I would be a far happier camper.

I think my ideal xp use for madden would be a combination of what we currently have and something from the past:

Player XP:
Players gain xp from games, goals and milestones. Any xp gained can be used to permanantly increase attributes/ unlock traits.

Coach XP:
Coaches gain xp from games, goals, and milestones.

Coach xp can spent throughout the week leading up to the next game.

Coach can choose from a wide variety of practice types or drills. Ex. Day off (0xp), full scrimmage, db drills, dline drills, qb film study, lb weightlifting..etc etc. Each activity cost a different amount of xp and players who participate gain an attribute boost in repective categories for that week only. So qb film study the qb gains an awr boost for the week.
To balance it out maybe other attributes should drop for the week if you dont focus on them.

Clearly this isnt perfect but if anyone wants to elaborate on it to make it better/ more balanced be my guest. I just feel this is a way to make it feel more realistic being a coach on a week to week basis.

EA added it to appeal to the casual audience. Why do you think there hasn't ever been a mode that actually plays like a coach in Madden the past 5-6 years?

The XP system feels like something you would use in the 16/32/64 - Bit era when hardware limitations made striving for complete realism useless. It's an outdated method that isn't even good nor realistic.

No, and he is not the passing game, believe me, only scored two fantasy points for me the one time I got him )when in reality, he's easily the biggest offensive weapon we have in the passing game and some would argue that Davis IS the passing game. 1st, complete contradiction, role playing is defined as representing something other than your real world. Rolling a 20 sided die to pick the lock of the treasure chest you just killed that dragon for is used to represent the actual sport of being a level 14 Rogue Seems to me from some other posts I've read on here that "role-playing" has a negative connontation and has taken on the meaning more of playing dress up dollies rather than simulating any other role than your own.

2nd I honestly am not trying to be mean nor am I judging this person individually, I just wanted to say that reactions like this, and statements as above are probably (and remember I'm a niche player, not a Maddenite) why Madden is having such an identification crisis. You can not please all the people all the time, so why everything that the person wrote above is correct, for them, and valid, it is only one voice out of many and unless they make a million different versions of Madden each year, someone is always going to think Madden makes no sense.

First off, Role-Playing usually deals with taking on the role of person, usually a character, and a RPG deals with you taking on the role of a character, and often deals with elements to help him get by leveling him up, using XP.

Secondly, if Madden can't please everyone, why can't they GIVE UP THE LICENSE? LOL
