If 2k gives lebron a better mid-range jumper than kobe bryant then 2k really needs new stat guy's.
Log off the internet please wow lmaooooo

Its true that his highest FG percentage is in the paint (like every other player lol), but fun fact, if you actually take 2 seconds to look at statistics he only attempted 48% (803) of his 1674 FGs at the rim to 9 ft (considering 9ft a small distance is kinda generous) and shot 52% of his FGs from 10 feet+

Also keep in mind that he shot an average of 39% from 10ft to 3pt range meanwhile Kobe shot 38% from 10+ ft out. Still lets just assume things like Lebron isn't a good shooter (his midrange FG% was 48% btw compared to Kobe's 42.4%) and that players like Kobe are better shooters than Lebron though

Check the NBA advanced stats section

Westbrook is a 41% midrange shooter and 33% 3 point shooter
Rose in his MVP season was a 40% midrange shooter and a 33% 3 point shooter. And the % stayed basically the same last season

Effective shooting percentage takes into account layups and free throws, so it's not a good measure of how good of shooter you are

If he shoots it better, and shoots it more, why don't his %'s reflect that against Rose? Can't really base this off of one game, or just one year when we have four years of data available for each player.
Im basing it off one year. I said russell is coming into his shot just now, this past season

Lebron jumper is average..gotta think about how the defense plays the shooter.

Lebron gets a cushion from his defender because they would rather him shoot it than drive, because they know his shooting isnt his strong point

Kobe does not get a cushion from his defender, they know shooting is his strength now over driving..but he did chuck it a lot

so its obvious who's % is gonna be higher..the guy who gets a 5 feet cushion to shoot, or the guy who doesn't get any airspace

I agree with these for the most part. Seems like players ratings have all gone down very slightly.

I just posted FG% stats based on court area from hoopdata.com. The original comparison was eFG and TS% which again, Rose was better every year he wasn't injured. And in the FG% stats I posted based on the area of the court Rose was better still except for the year he was injured.

There's a recurring theme here, and it's called oneseasonitis. When Westbrook does it this year, maybe next year and beyond he'll get credit for it. But you generally don't take into account outliers.

You're right. We don't want Iggy with an 86 3pt rating because of one season after years of struggling. If not you end up like fifa or madden where ratings change every week and you don't even know when to start a franchise.

Aah the plot thickens

I should have mentioned that he had taken 1076 jumpshots (out of his 1674 FGA last year) and that 47% of his FG scored in at the rim were assisted.

Meaning that on scouting reports it'd say in iso he is more likely to take a jumper than drive to the basket

http://www.basketball-reference.com/...1&year_id=2012

Putting all this together, he doesn't attempt inside shots often, and when he does, almost half of them are assisted to him. Meaning that he actually only forcefully drove half of the 595 (this time including hookshots, and tip ins) by himself. He scored the bulk of his points off jumpshots. Playing off him would be a bad idea
