So go buy PeS and enjoy the lack of licensing and lack of teams. For those of us who don't have hours upon hours to sit on our rears and nitpick and play hours upon hours of games FIFA is fine. I enjoy it when I play and that is dandy with me. Now go over to the PES forums and take your little man poison cloud with you.

I have season ticket, so when this comes out I will play it, but I highly doubt I will pick this up as I already know I'm getting PES.
I think with the right sliders - FIFA will always come close. It's just a matter of the little things that tend to happen and not make an realistic sense. For example in FIFA 12, the cleared ball would always find the foot of the attacker - there would be no sense of a loose ball. The ball would always be attached to predestined area no matte what.

I will still get FIFA, but will keep my receipt as well. I hope someone posts a video against the AI soon though.

Nieb, this discussion has been mature and constructive before yours. So either contribute, or don't say anything at all. This isn't a PES vs FIFA thread. It's about the collective disgust/confusion we have towards the videos posted. It doesn't look like what real soccer is - it doesn't even come close. It's closer to SuperStar soccer than it is FIFA 12.

The licensing and lack of teams (??) in PES is not at topic here. We are free to bring up other games to compare - EA has seemingly forgotten this, as has yourself apparently. We wouldn't be in here if we didn't care about the direction of FIFA, nor would we have produced some constructive criticism either. Your post, however, accomplishes nothing - and doesn't go for any sort of good of either game's progression.

Another example that comes to mind: tackling the ball away from an opponent, only to have it go straight to one of his teammates, typically acting as an unintentional through pass to a guy in a better attacking position. There's just a real lack of randomness in FIFA. Stuff like that is a reason why one of my wireless controls is in the trash bin.

Re: FIFA 13 Gameplay Videos and More

So I guess the 5 or 6 comments regarding how it's PES for sure this year are constructive as well?

It's really time to realize that no video game is going to ever be a true sports simulation, never, ever. Madden is not true football, The show is not real baseball, the NHL series is not real hockey and so on and so forth. I don't get the constant barrage of negative. Every forum is littered with a consistent yammering of anger and displeasure that sounds like a bunch of spoiled children.
If I had logged onto the why FIFA isn't that great thread then I wouldn't be surprised by the content. But this was the latest video thread, and you know what? I agree the videos left me saying Eh. But I also look at it and say, this is the style of play the players choose to use I personally don't mash the sprint button down and my defense isn't anywhere near that awful, I'm sure the sliders havent been adjusted to what I would use, and custom tactics certainly haven't been applied. But to get on here and bag the crap out of the entire game based on short out of the box videos? C'mon really?
There are elements in every sport that a computer program can simply not recreate. The biggest being the human element, no programmcan ever reproduce that. If you are unhappy with you'd experience out of the box, tweak the sliders to closer get the experience that you want. If you still can make yourself happy, STOP BUYING EA GAMES. Coming on here advising us that you are going to buy a different game is pointless. Do it and be happy with your decision, but no one here cares.
I come to this site to get the latest news, videos, and see how other players adjust thier slider. To the people behind the scenes I personally thank you for your hard work. It's aggravating to come here and read person after person just complain and caper. It's not constructive, if you haven't figured out EA doesn't give a damn by now then you need to wake up and smell the profit they pull yearly.

Re: FIFA 13 Gameplay Videos and More

Matt10 and Nieb498 (and anyone else reading), I think both of you make good points in parts and I don't feel like parsing quotes. Let's do our best not to get bogged down in this discussion, while also remembering the good points each of you make, notably: civility, no PES v FIFA superiority contests, the "human element" and keeping perspective on gameplay videos.

I don't particularly enjoy an environment where any kind of comparison is taboo, but it got to that point in the past because the community couldn't draw the line between comparing specific elements/features for constructive purpose and bickering.

However, one place I don't think we should see comparisons are in the impressions threads. Those are for people to give their thoughts on the demo/game they are playing... not to say "[game] does it better" or "so what if _____ sucks in [game], [game] can't do _____ right!"

Just a reminder, as I know we hit some bumps with this issue last year.

What annoys me is those "unintentional through balls" are made to look random, when the world and his wife could call them before they have happened.

Only one controller in the bin? What restraint.
