Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions

Well the new skating is nice and super goalies are gone.

Penalities are a joke. Crosschecked from behind without the puck and it's not even called for anything. That's a suspension in real life. I've seen one non-glitched one in all my time playing and it was on one of my guys. My slider wasn't even maxed like the AI's is. Interference is a serious issue.

Of course with no penalities that reduces stoppages. As I said last year no stoppages results in arcade trash because it's trying to be a sim, just failing massively. There's been a few off-sides and icings so it's a slight improvement but still rare to see a goalie cover and they're not nearly where they should be so again the pace is entirely wrong resutling in yet another poor playing game.

I thought the rigging/cheating/AI boost/they're going to score no matter what you do was mostly gone,it still happend just not frequently, until I did the Philly/Pits game.

Yah. Trash. The real bad news is that's in the mode where you're only controlling one player so that makes it even worse than last year.

The entire lower right side of the arena is broken. I'm using the action cam and there's a gigantic FPS hit down there every single time. Drops to about 10.

The goal cam is low resolution for some reason and everything looks terrible on those replays.

Speaking of broken camera the directional options don't work. You're ALWAYS facing up no matter what you pick. It'll be fine for face-offs but it'll go back to that afterwards.

Finally the hip check is also broken. I've twice had a player get stuck in the bent over posistion and unable to move. The first time it resulted in a penalty (that's why I said non-glitched) and the second the player just didn't go anywhere.

Next time just make a straight up arcade game instead of a failed sim game.

Right before you get ready to play your game, go down to the 3rd option (I believe - the one that shows your minutes and level). Click on it. Go right trigger once and you'll see aim as auto or manual. I use auto - it still matters what you do with your aiming, but seems like a "helper" - I like it because it helps the attributes matter, along with not trying to do the same kind of shot each time.

Is it the Custom Camera that is messing it up? Because I set my puck size/shadow to Authentic the first time I turned the game on and it has stayed that way without resetting. I haven't changed any camera settings though.

It's all 3. It keeps resetting to large and medium.

I'm seeing more penalties since I bumped the sliders for...

Stick Lift Effectiveness

Hum 2
CPU 1

Poke Effectiveness

Hum 2
CPU. 1

My penalty sliders are set to MAX.

I seeing 3 to 5 penalties per game total. As I type I'm in the second period and Washington is going to the sin bin for the 2 time, and the Leafs(me) 1 time. Maybe those slider effect penalties. Less control, more penalties.

MAKE THAT 3 penalties for me, 2 for the CPU.

I have aggression up to 5 for both CPU and human.

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions

goh,

I play with the Action view now that I have to reset the custom camera every time I turn on my system, and I have never seen the frame rate drop as you suggest. It was there on previous versions of the game but I am not seeing this "yet" this year.

As for penalties and stoppages in play. I have a lot of ice and offsides by both CPU and human. As I stated earlies, I'm experiencing 3 to 5 penalties a game. Not everything is called as I should be, but it is no way "arcade thrash" as you suggest.

The hip check glitch you posted, thankfully I have not seen it yet. That being said, I do not spam that. Not saying you do, I just do not like to grab my toes to take out a player.

This game has some issues, but it is a very good game.

Edit:

Oh yeah, goalies cover the puck when offensive players are near the crease. They play the puck when thy should.

That all being said, thank God you bought the Season Ticket and saved yourself $60 on this game.

Re: NHL 13 Season Ticket Impressions

Using my NHL12 sliders on NHL13 on all star difficulty...

Panthers:
24 shots
2 goals
17 faceoffs won

Flyers: (me)
17 shots
5 goals
15 faceoffs won

Which is ironic since yesterday with same sliders on pro, I lost 2-1 lol

Definitely see a cpu boost (All Star / Hardcore - with some tweaks). I'd like to consider the lower level this year, as I made some sliders a couple years ago for Pro that played well. This game might actually play best on that level, giving the cpu proper boosts. Not sure though...
I actually switched down to Pro last year and just worked on sliders to up the challenge there and it worked great for me. I was just finding that I was winning and losing a lot of 1-0 games on All Star and Superstar, whereas when I went to Pro and found my sliders I was seeing more goals both ways, and more variation in final scores.
