Dwight took jumpers last year. In fact, according to 82games, he took quite a few of them.

Or, allow Magic blog Pinstriped Post to explain further:

Howard has made strides in several areas, but among the most notable and prevalent is in his jump-shooting. Prior to this season, he had shot 30.6 percent on two-point jumpers. This season, that figure has moved to 39.1 percent.
Specifically, Howard has improved his facility in taking jumpers from the wings after receiving the ball with his back to the basket. In prior years, if a defender managed to leverage him a few steps out from where he'd like to catch, Howard didn't have many options; he could turn, face, and fire an iffy jumper or try to drive a longer to the basket, opening himself up to strips from help defenders. Now? He can turn, face, and fire a markedly more reliable jumper, in addition to driving the lane.
In 74 games, Howard has shot 38-of-92 (41.3 percent) on such attempts. To be clear, we're only talking about a very specific type of jumper here: ones he shoots following a post-up when he faces up.
The improved accuracy is one aspect to note here, but don't ignore his willingness to fire away: he's tied Zach Randolph for the league lead in this sort of jumper attempt this season, at 1.2 per game. Howard, Randolph, Carlos Boozer, and Al Jefferson stand as the only players averaging at least 1 such shot attempt per game. Of those four, only Jefferson (45.3 percent) tops Howard in accuracy.

Nice graphics! But there is something bothering me while I was watching this video. The movements of the players seem to be not realistic. The shots, the driving to the basket, etc. I think that one has to be fixed. Because the movements in 2k12 is more realistic compering to this test gameplay.

wow I've watched a lot of nba 2k vids and this has got to be the best basketball gameplay I've ever seen in a video game. without playing the game, what it looks like is tight control (both sides of the ball), great gameplay balance, and players and teams playing like they do in real life (and with sig skills it will make them unique even more)....all A+ stuff. can't wait for this game to drop!

Good post man. The numbers don't lie. I watch NBA all day everyday, and I had no problem with the d howard's jump shot, because he shoots them in real life. (Even though his jumpers in real life are bank shots). I would recommend that more people look at the stats, before they decide something is not realistic.

I'm buying it just because Lebron is crying about being fouled. So realistic.

People swear that Dwight Howard can't score outside of 5 feet and that Artest is the greatest defender of all time.

It's why it's so silly to be intensely judgmental over at 10 minute video. It's only indicative of the final product, it's not nearly enough to give any final idea. Especially when we're not the ones controlling the action.

Re: NBA 2K13 Gameplay Video - Los Angeles Lakers vs. Miami Heat

Ha ha. The MWP thing goes without saying. Its 2012. He is not locking down bron, Dirk, Durant, and a host of other good players anymore. These last 2 years in the playoffs he got roasted. He is still a great position defender, but offensive players who have great quickness, and or length/height he can no longer shut down. Help Defense, and Protecting the rim are the keys to NBA defense. This whole one-on-one on ball lock down defense craze that people on this site have is not real life nor is it realistic NBA basketball. The Heat have shooters all over the floor so you either live with bron and wade driving or you give up open jumpers.
