To u it doesn't because I neglected to get into the gaming engine's limitations. 2Ks games have differently built and structured engines, if u don't understand that. I think too many ppl comparing EA's to 2K's game don't think about that. 2K's games would also be even better with Blu-ray, too.

Also remember that the Visual Concept folks, who used to work on EA Sports games, developed the 2KSports gaming engines so they basically took what they learned from working with more rigid EA Sports gaming engines and improved upon them

Re: OS Fact or Fiction: Is Madden for Real This Time?

What's really funny is, EA bragging about there 8% rise in sales from launch. Madden12 had a 11% rise in sales in there launch as well and then after Christmas the sales crashed and wasn't more than Madden11 globally. Don't these guys get it, we know what's the deal about these games. What do EA think is going too happen when NBA2k13 comes out and if it's better than NBA2K12. People will not think about Madden as much and continue on, then u have Halo4 coming out. It's about the quality of the game!!!! Not because u have the only NFL title anymore. Even though NBA2k isn't a football game, it is competition too Madden because it's about a month after. How come the challenge system sucks so much? Why are the replays so retarted and off, compared too Madden12? When will u finally fix the penalties like pass interference and add all the NFL penalties in your game EA? How about the atrocious what u think is a halftime show and in-game stats. Look at MLB2k and MLB the SHOW and u know what I'm talking about about in-game stats. These are things that kill the experience and gamers deserve better. U Gamechangers that are on this site, really need too push this too the developers, or there not going too excel in there product from year to year.

Now, the one thing that bothers me, and makes me mad, is what they will possibly need to alter, drastically or otherwise, for 14. EA usually has to taper, cut and move things around to be able to implement new additions and changes on with these current systems.

The, uhh, maddening part is how much better this game could have possibly been LOOONG AGO, even with a smaller Madden dev team, if MS just went with effin Blu-ray. Bigger disc space increases the data capacity of what devs can do on one disc. DVDs hold this game back and causes all that tapering, cutting and moving around. Anybody want to take this personally and argue this, again, go educate urself. Not trying to start some debate. It's FACT and there ARE games on PS3 that only needed one Blu-ray disc when that very same game had to be released on multiple DVDs for the 360. MS messed that up for all of us.
If EA still had wanted to double up on the team with having Blu-ray copacity for both systems, sheesh, Madden would probably be approaching if not already at legendary status with 13.
Bull!!!
Ea has stated on multiple occasions that disk space is NOT an issue, at least not yet!! Don't believe me? Look at Last years dev groups posts!
Your putting the blame in the wrong place...I now believe it's an issue of either talent, or desire, as to why this game fell short once again.

Fact and fiction, fact part, it plays like a sim, fiction, I like the fact that I throw a lot of interceptions. I would rather have to worry about where to throw and fear a pick, then mindlessly chuck the ball up.

A great game is both sim and arcade.

Its neither fact nor fiction.
I agree that Madden 13 on the field is the best effort for EA in a while. Ive skipped alot of years so I cant compare Maddens yearly releases. I can only compare gameplay with the verisons that Ive owned from the past.

I agree with what Jayson said about the weightless, exaggerated player movement, outlandish Monday Night Raw collisions and inhuman limb contortions created by the new Infinity Engine. It would have been niice to see injuries tied into these inhuman limb contortions.

Its unfortunate that EA didnt test this game more before release. It seems as though, EA needs a solid expereinced qc team. The bugs, and game play features that get by are really head scratchers.

a quick example, which happens to bother me alot is: How does one give camera options to quick game modes, and not offer it in on line or off line ccm mode. They say its becuase of server issues in head to head competition, thast fine, but wouldnt smomeone in the decision making process still include it in the off line ccm mode. There are still more off line gamers than on line.

excluding a basic season or mutli-season mode, while revamping fracnchise mode was also a huge misstep.

Presentation is solid this year but still incomplete.

Knowing EA theyll somehow take a step back next year by ommitting something that has potential t in this years version.

Re: OS Fact or Fiction: Is Madden for Real This Time?

FICTION... Once again, I will point something that is somewhat overlooked. Remember the Madden 13 playbook, episode 4. This is the one that Victor Lugo talked about the Infinity Engine. He said in Madden 13, because of the Infinity Engine, that we would not see players hands, arms, legs, etc going thru others players, balls, etc. Check out the video, fast foward to 2:10. This is when Lugo starts talking about the changes in Madden 13.

Now, take a look at this video,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I56cYMemQVA&feature=plcp
it cleary shows a defenders hands go thru the ball and the reciever catching it for a TD. This happens on the regular folks.
This cannot happen in a football game.

Partially "real" & "fiction." Without repeating on what most posters have already said, this year's Madden is the best since, in my view, 2005. The new collision/tackling system (or Infinity engine) seems to work most of the time, but is littered with glitches, some of which are annoying, and I sure hope EA can work in a patch to correct these. I understand it is not an easy task of programming to instill motion to that of life-like proportions. However, watching a player get hit and then somehow have a certain kind of programming seizure is unacceptable.
Have not delved into the new "career" mode yet, as it has replaced the Franchise mode. Another issue that I have is the chance to import your NCAA 13 players. This is the first time they have prevented this. Why? I don't know if a patch would be able to implement this, but it would be a great addition.
Other than that, I like this year's game. Plays very realistic but other times it proves it's just another video game.
