I have no idea why everyone is complaining.. Those are not terrible ratings for the majority of players mentioned.. Why don't some of you stop reading stats and percentages and actually watch some damn games.. C'mon

His comment wasn't about one being better than the other.

No, but the comment made before that was that Pippen isn't rated high because he wasn't a great shooter and his response was neither is LeBron..

My reply was that LeBron was a better player than Pippen, meaning that regardless of how either of them shoot LeBron does much more than Pippen to warrant the higher overall..

All in all I think Pippen is fine at the 92 overall spot.. IMO he never did anything to deserve anything too special, he's far overrated in his passing and ball handling abilities, definitely a great team defender, and all star player.. There are plenty of guys in the NBAs 50 greatest player list who would rank as low as mid 80s on a 2K game so Pippen being where he is isn't too high or too low for me..

Think about it as if a well behaved student getting the better grade if his actual grade is between two grades. If that student is always on time and never causes a disruption and he is between a B and a C best believe he will get the B grade.

That is the same thing I am saying here. I am saying reputation should be considered. The example that you just have about Ray Allen is NOT what I said. I didn't say anything near that. Not sure where you pulled the 88 from. But if he shot 35%, that still calculates to an 80 rating which is still a solid rating. So he can be fine there.

But if he shot 20%, which would give him below a 70, I would think that his career would allow the roster maker to give him a few "bonus" points considering his history.

That is factoring on court ability.

So there can't exist a world where someone can be a stat head and watch games? Why is it the first comment toward someone that uses statistical evidence is watch more games. Where are you getting the impression that games aren't being watched?

This is where I think having something like an open shot vs contested shot rating would factor in. I also think the ratings in general should be stretched out more, so that 89+ is only for the elite 3pt shooters, which Iggy still isn't one of. The 27th ranked 3pt shooter should not be an 89 from 3pt range.

Also the fact that they got rid of the shot off dribble rating last year and changed it to a tendency was a huge step back IMO. Hopefully they bring it back in 2K12, bc I felt like it was near perfect in 2K11 in that guys like Korver and Redick would be money coming off of screens and spotting up but could be stopped if they tried to pull up off the dribble.

I also think rep should be a factor. Guys like Korver, Novak, Mike Miller, Redick, James Jones who really are 3pt specialists and make their living from out there, should be rated higher 3pt so that they truly represent what their game is, even if their percentage may have dipped for a year.

So my problem isn't necessarily w/ Iggy in general, it's moreso with the way 2K plays in that there isn't much difference between an 89 3pt shooter and a 99 3pt shooter at times. That's what I hope they change in 2K13 by stretching out those ratings.

I have to agree with you man. Out of players I've actually seen Pippen is top 10, if not top 5. He is on the "official" list of 50 greatest players of all-time after all. You kind of have to be a superstar to be on that list...
