just played a quick period of the demo and saw something pretty neat... the cpu tried dumping the puck in on me on the bench side and the puck hit off the glass and took a crazy bounce back towards the player who dumped the puck in... never saw anything like that in the past few games, so it was a nice subtle change I noticed

Also, i won the devils by 5-1 in the HUT, which is great for one period.
Ya know what I've always wanted to try classic controls again. I love the analog sticks because it's incredibly simplistic and fun, but the dekeing and stick handling is just too overdone for me. I think with classic, players have less reach with the puck and it will look more realistic. I may just try classic for the hell of it. I will do anything to substitute simplicity for realism when it comes to stick handling in this game. The classic controls will just take a tad bit to get used to.

I will say what I'm liking a lot about the 13 demo is the players losing the puck when stick handling. So staying with the sticks for controls seems like it will be o.k. I've lost the puck with the likes of Stamkos, which is something that just never happened in the past. I like that a ton. It actually might be the part I'm most happy with. This could really really help when it comes to player separation and variety to games. I'm hoping I'll get to the point where I know I can't stick handle with a guy like Matt Kassian (If I even use him) and therefore I have to get the puck deep in order to create any offense with my 4th line. These are the things that are going to make this game fun for me.

I've scored some unbelievable goals in free skate. I absolutely love it.

The best is the fact that you can score five-hole. And the deke (either forehand or backhand) and slide between the legs is amazing. Simply awesome!

Now in shootouts maybe I can do the patented Toews five-hole wrister or the Kaner backhand deke and put the puck through the five-hole.

I CAN'T WAIT for September 7th!

Also, what happened to Realm? I read the posts, did I miss something? I was banned for a while so I've been really careful in what I post for the past year but I didn't see anything that broke the TOS.

Definitely loving this demo!! September 7th Hurry Up!! The skating is realistic and the moves you can now make impact play a lot. Speed kills when under controll... aha

I haven't gotten this through my thick skull yet.

I think this may be one of my big problems with not scoring. I still haven't got use to the idea of getting my player under control while taking a shot. Causing my shots to be less accurate.

Pros:

New Skating Engine
More Strategies
Improved AI
NHL Moments Live

Cons:

Physics still feel off
Goalies move unrealistically fast
Presentation improvements underwhelming
Cpu Offense is awful
Defensemen still not active enough

Overall, I'm very optimistic about NHL 13, but it seems like it will probably be NHL 14 or 15 before the game reaches close to its full potential. I'm still buying though

Does anyone know if there is a specific way to make the goalie sprawl out and use the individual limb movement to make a save? I got heavily manhandled cross-crease a few times and i need to know how to make a ridiculously impossible save like i see the CPU doing all the time. Thanks

If only you left like you promised instead of coming back to taunt Realm, OS would be a better place.
