Agreed. It's been too long that Rondo was garbage in 2K. The problem is that the passing rating in 2K is pretty much useless. You could average 15+ assists just as easy with Pape Sy as you could with Rondo. And when 2K made the speed rating useless and straight-up layups the most difficult shot to make in in 2K12, it pretty much made Rondo nothing but a defensive specialist.

Re: NBA 2K13 Player Ratings - Kobe - 93, Melo - 92, Rondo - 90

Obviously these are overall ratings and they don't mean much, but I think Melo being a 92 isn't all that wrong. At least based on the second half of the season and previous seasons, if I had to rate him last January I'd say 80 is generous.

I'm hoping now that they've got a better system and a couple decent passing point guards, Melo can finally thrive all season long. He may or may not be the best scorer in the league, but there's no denying that he can consistently carry his team to victories, especially in fourth quarters, and that's not something that a lot of guys can do, and I think is what earns him his high rating.

Yeah, he takes bad shots, yeah he could probably score more efficiently if he took it to them rim more, but I'd still take Melo shooting that fadeaway jumper over two guys rather than him passing it to JR or baron or wide open landry fields. That being said, I think Melo proved to be pretty good passer last season, even though his apg numbers don't really back that up. I think given the chance he could even play the point forward role effectively.

He also played pretty hard defensively under woodson, and he's always been a decent 1on1 defender, it's just that the effort has never really been there, but there's no rating for that in 2k to bring his overall down.

I believe Lin's rating went up simply since he was playing better than expected. It's as simple as that. You can't say that's not true.

That's why I said I can't empathize with online ranked guys because I don't play that. That's why it's not that big a deal to me specifically.

But the issue should be with how certain attributes affect OVR and how they affect gameplay rather than the OVR itself. Just because a guy has a high OVR doesn't mean people are going to dominate with him if 2K addresses other parts of the game. If gameplay is tight, a high OVR doesn't mean everything.

I really don't see any wrong with the rating system for Kobe (I don't really care about others because I'm not knowledge enough to say others without really watching their game).
Kobe's overall should still be above 90, as his off/def awareness is still top in the league (and those two attributes do most at 2k rating system)

and just saying, overall doesn't mean everything in 2k rating system.

It's been proven by many roster makers that the overall ratings don't mean jack diddly. Take someone like say Chris Paul, move him to SG and watch his overall jump by 3-4 points. Each position has a different rating scale that values certain attributes higher (Dirk for example his 3 point shooting doesn't value much as a 4 but make him a 3 and watch his overall jump 4 points or so).

It's the nature of the beast.

You do realize it's possible to be rated 90 and even higher while also having 25 MID and 25 3PT, right?
