I'm pretty powerful to ruin an entire subforum that no one really posted in to begin with because so few people are on board the NHL2k bandwagon. Oh wait! Next you'll blame me for the death of 2k hockey.

Heck even star players can lose the puck if under pressure going into tight turns or from just skating too fast. So much for that "magnetized puck" complaining.

There's a lot of subtle changes I notice the more I play, pretty ready for early release at this point and getting a crack at getting sliders nailed down.

Alright, so after playing tons and tons of games, I've concluded that you can not for some reason, one time a loose puck. In free skate, you can, no problem. But for some reason, IN game, you can't. Why??

Yeah Gagnon, me too. The more I play the demo, the more things I've noticed that have impressed me.

One of the big things for me is, that the AI is quite a bit more aggressive overall than in past games. Even my often used passes behind my own net to escape pressure, and/or get a rush up ice started has been made an adventure. Because the AI now, often has a forward deep behind my net. That...along with the increased aggression, has forced me into several turnovers and missed passes up ice. Vs the easy breakouts of the past.

The last few things I'm hoping for outta the retail game are...for the cpu to make it tougher to skate through center ice, less AI pass accuracy, and some bobbled passes [reception slider] and I'm pretty much golden.

After barely playing NHL 12, I will say I am pretty impressed overall with the NHL 13 demo. The new skating engine is great, but for me the best thing I have noticed is player differential. I can finally tell a difference between my top line and my checking line. If I try to make a tight move with Colin Fraser, I lose the puck -- as it should be. And this player differential is something I need to be aware of on defense as well...seeing Kovulchuk burn into the zone really makes me aware of my spacing and defense. Love it.

I do have some concerns...the AI (especially teammate AI) leaves lot to be desired at times, and the lack of penalties is troubling --- if the sliders actually work this year, hopefully that can be rectified. If these issues can be addressed with sliders, this game could be something special.

im assuming you mean the L2 slapper? & not just cycling the puck using the rstick in your own end?

This was my first impression as well, so I really focused on it when playing over the weekend. On defense, it seems to be working fairly well. It might not be as quick as in the past, but I was able to use a wrist shot around/up the boards to move the puck before the forechecker arrived (this was without using L-trigger).

I think the trick is we have to be somewhat more deliberate this year. I had more success holding the stick as I approached the puck, as opposed to flicking it right as I picked it up. As such, I think the loose puck chop is the move you want to use when really under pressure.

This was all with wrist shots. I never really used the loose puck slapshot, although that might be useful to make sure you clear the zone from behind the net (eg, on the PK). Might need to experiment some more...

i really need to see new presentations, for me is the cut scenes, player faces (cmon...its been awhile now and still you cannot get the real faces even of 3rd liners "F"?) and game introduction (need some variation and not generic). i still remember that there was that version wherein you can see the Joe Louis Arena (aerial shot) and others at the introduction. i'd like to see the 3-stars of the game being introduced again...or anything to know that this is a new series and not just a carry over from the past.

Re: NHL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)

After playing the NHL 13 demo a lot I've come to like it more. One thing that I have noticed is that no one has mentioned the new dynamic lighting. The players faces and the visors look the best I've ever seen in any NHL game before. The faces also look crisper and cleaner and look like they are actually real. The skating engine is superb. One complaint I have is about the new camera. True broadcast. This might just be because I have a standard definition tv (ik. I'm tight on money) occasionally I can't see the puck in the corner because the camera is too focused down ice. Other than that I think that the nice additions of a new skating engine and the dynamic lighting make this game a must buy. Also I am a PS3 user and have experienced some lag when I'm playing the game are there any others who have experienced this?
