I was there and what he means is when players change direction, they usually cross the ball over to keep their body in between the ball and defender. It's a natural move that most players don't have to think about. It was something asked for back in 1998 and was in every single game until Elite 11 where they decided you had to use both sticks to perform this maneuver.

If the controls are unintuitive then depth means nothing in a video game. Elite tried too hard to be different when standardization was the better course of action. I played the Elite demo and watched the footage, I wasn't impressed. Deep down inside I bet EA wasn't either, and they shouldn't be.
if you are referring to the shooting mechanics in Elite 11 vs. 2K you are sadly mistaken. The shooting in 2K leaves me baffled im not really sure what constitutes a miss or a make. Is it timing, ratings, momentum, hand in the face(Not being sarcastic, enlighten me)? Its hard to really say. In Elite there was the shooting gauge that was pretty spot on and if any of the above mentioned factors were applied the shot was affected accordingly. If the controls are so unintuitive how come they are being used in 2K13?

Some of you guys need to stop now because its clear you have no idea what youre taking about and you know who you are

Need to stop what expressing an opinion? Last time I checked that was the purpose of a Forum. Dude build a bridge an get over yourself, I understand you feel burned by EA an all but you are not the only one that plays videogames other people perspectives and opinions matter it takes a bigger person to view something through another persons eyes and not your own. With that said you never played a complete version of Elite, if Bynum and Boozer did that in a Retail game then you got it otherwise you dont know what your talking about. Animations dont make a game sim it adds to the illusion of a real basketball game being broadcast on tv which translates better to a certain type of player but its not sim dont get it twisted. IMO Stats make a game sim, as well as graphics and attention to detail. For a creative player which Live leans toward, total control allows the freedom to perform those animations sort of how a real player performs dribble moves in rhythm in real life. Can this not be considered simulation(makes you wonder why 2K adopted this)? I guess it begs the question what is the definition of a Simulation. Give credit where credit is due, dont just tip the scales to 2K.

Along with that shooting money 3 point buckets continually via hookshot and being able to hit any shot anywhere anytime with anyone of you lined up a dot is a pitiful implementation of this sport

Live fans need to stop. Elite was garbage with little to no redeeming qualities.

Poor developers from EA sport, so they work in tyrannical conditions.
I know who I want to blame, it is cutomers, fanboys
Look at this thread, its so sad.. Even this news about that silly gameplay of NBA Live - raise a pother. There are such fans who trying to find the positive aspects of that awful gameplay. It's stupidly disgusting

Hookshot? What are you talking about? I know your trying to make a point but theres a thin line. What youre saying is not true not by far I put in time on that demo.

Back on topic though I have watched the Live 13 vids again very closely(the vid also seems to run much smoother couple days ago things were more choppy) with and without sound and if its indeed Pre-Alpha as stated there is some promise Im liking some of what I am seeing. If there is indeed RTP in affect the hints of momentum missing in Elite are evident, also some good passing animations made it in. Im hoping that the company that wrote the book on foot planting makes sure it is in the game by its release. Cant wait to so some progress.

They're not being implemented horribly like NBA Elite 11. NBA Live 10's implementation>NBA Elite's control scheme.
