I contacted EA directly, and they don't even know if player editing, supersim and custom playbooks are in, out or just in Play Now (because the manuals are vague about it). I did see a new video showing supersim, though...at least that's confirmed in the game.

I did live chat with whatever Rep. and after a wait for them to research it, I was told they wouldn't know until after the game releases. It could be I was forwarded to some customer service person nowhere near the actual Tiburon building.

But if you choose to be a player, you only control that player ala superstar mode. Being a coach, like others said, is the franchise mode you are used to.

That jumped out at me yesterday so I did some digging and got some answers from EA guys on Twitter. It was a typo and the correct draft picks are in retail, they even sent me the Niners picks for 2013 that are in the game.

Now while I got the 49ers picks verified, I can't confirm on other teams. But if there was a typo for the Niners, I'm sure the other teams that have their draft picks wrong in the guide are correct on retail as well.
