Also, last year totally debunks your statement.

2nd best player in the league on the cover and it was cancelled. It's not about whether they feel it's a good game, it's about money.

If that was the case, you really think Durant would have put his face on E-lite? You really think he thought that was a good game after playing it? Come on, don't be so naive.
Durant may be the second best player in the league, but he's not the second most marketable player in the league.

Durant is a real humble guy, he said he grew up playing Live, that's one of the reasons he was looking forward to being on the Elite cover. Even when Durant heard Live 13 was coming out he was ready to be on the cover. I'm sure he cares much less about the money and his image than LeBron.

Thats exactly what I was thinking..maybe thats part of the strategy 3D approach?

My other guess, if this cover is real, maybe its some kind of blend with the USA team colors and the Miami colors? EA did have the FIBA teams in the game a couple years back so maybe theyll have Olympic teams or an Olmypic mode in the game. If USA wins gold then EA could be set up perfect for the hype mill: USA wins gold, Lebron announced as cover athlete, Olympic mode announced where you choose a country and play through olympic games, and maybe even annouce that the game is releasing for $40 and a lot of people will be talking and interested.

Back to this cover art...Im surprised by how many people like this cover I think its terrible. If this were NBA street it would be one thing but a trippy, Pokemon hologram card looking Lebron (or any player for that matter) doesn't fit well for a sports simulation IMO. This cover makes me think the game will come with acid tabs in order to enjoy the game.

I should add that if Lebron isn't on the cover then this could possible be even worse news for EA. This article alone has gotten people hopeful for Live, after a week of rumors and questions about Lives status. It's has if Live was on its death bed for the past week and this one article was the little shred of hope that maybe it will pull through. Without Lebron who else could EA possibly have that would get people excited and want to buy the game?

LeBron is probably top 3 if not the most marketable athlete in sports right now, and I'm sure he knows that. I don't think he would put his name on Live if it wasn't up to par (If he is on the cover).
So LeBron won a ring because of The Decision? C'mon now man. If it wasn't for Tiger Woods crashing into a tree after his wife went...well Tiger on him with his clubs, LeBron would have suffered the second biggest PR turnaround in the history of sports. LeBron may eventually recover from The Decision to be a likable athlete again to the masses, but he's now a mere mortal. He's not untouhable the way he was prior and he's lost his aura of invincibility. It's like the difference between seeing Superman for the first time. Seeing him operate and looking unstoppable and then Kryptonite happens and suddenly you realize even Superman can be killed. The Decision without question was a disaster of a business move for LeBron.

In my opinion LeBron is in the prime of his marketability, LeBron James is a household name whether its cause you like him or hate him. Like i said he could be one of the top 3 if not the most marketable athlete in the World. I don't think the decision had any negative affect on him, it helped him in my opinion.

And he did win a ring because of the decision, his decision to join up with Dwade and Bosh was the reason he got a ring.

I think LeBron is too business minded for that. I don't think he'd put his name on anything just for the money.
