No Shorter Season Option in NHL 13 GM Connected Mode, But You Can Sim Games

For those NHL 13 fans hoping to play shorter seasons in GM Connected mode, EA Sports has tweeted some unfortunate details for you.

Quote:
Lots of people have asked if they could play a shorter season in GM Connected. It's only a full season, though you can sim games.
Platform: PS3 / Xbox 360

Thanks Steve, not the answer I wanted. I don't want to sim games. IMO online gm or connected gm would have been alot more successfull if we could play shorter seasons. Franchise mode is pretty much a waste for me again this year.. oh well.

If the gameplay is on par with what I expect/hope for, then I am perfectly fine playing full seasons.

Being my first EA purchase since 99, I am also a little disappointed about the lack of season lengths but extremely excited about being able to play franchise mode online in team up with my 4 buddies vs the cpu with custom sliders (which I believe they confirmed).

But, I plan on having my 4 buddies and I play on the same team throughout the season in Online GM Connected Mode. The way I see it, we'll play 5 guys coop sometimes, then, if I am reading properly, we can play in combinations to keep the season rolling.

Maybe a 3 vs cpu one day if 2 guys can't make it, or a 2 vs, maybe a 1 vs. I think with my 4 buddies and myself, as long as the host doesn't have to be present to play, I think we'd get through all 80+ game.

If we can play in combinations without the "host" (or whoever started the GM Connected SEason) then we'll be good. IF, "host" has to be present for all the games, ........damn you long season! (Shakes fist because I don't know how to add a little yellow fist shakin' guy)

These are the choices that blow my mind. EA continues to take control away from the end user rather than have us tell them how we want to play our games, they tell us how they want us to play our game.

Although it would be nice to set season length, too much control over aspects like this could work against EA in the end, and considering that GM Connected is the lead story feature this year, wouldn't it be better to introduce one version, played in a standardized way across the board?

I'm at peace with this now.

For whatever reason, EAC just simply isn't going to give us the option of shorter season lengths. It would be interesting though to hear what their reasons are for not adding this option. Maybe there's a lot more to it than I realize.
