Why EA Needs to Patch the New Playoff into NCAA Football 13

Double-standard. People openly criticize and mock EA Sports games for not getting every last detail correct. It is absolutely unfair to demand realism to a T in one instance of the game, and them to create an option that is artificial to what currently exists in real life the next.

It's not a marketing ploy if EA doesn't have the playoff until NCAA Football 15. It will probably take the real-life powers that be that long to figure out how everything with regard to the playoff - and everything affected by it - is going to work.

I personally don't want the playoff in a video game until EA has enough information to attempt to do it correctly.

I'm critical of EA but to blame them or claim no patch is laziness is erroneous.

1) No finite factual information has been pulled on how teams were being selected and where they play, if there is any restrictions, etc.

2) MLB The Show wasn't able to patch in the one extra wild card, and that went into effect this season.

Despite what some people may believe there is a specific scheduling matrix and that alters dynasty to its very core, not only would they have to code out conflicts, they would have to make up a form of selection of teams, which most likely would just amount to BCS 1-4.

As far as I'm concerned, it would be nice but it by no means makes them lazy. Drawing the parallel to the Show to support that.

Heck you can start with College Hoops 2K8 and create a tournament that only consist of All Time teams or Classic teams.

There are guys who create and download many teams from Team Builder who probbaly would love to have the option of playing a tournament/Playoff with classic teams like 95 Nebraksa vs 91 Washington for example....

Just because it doesn't appease to you doesn't mean it would be worhtless to others.....I for one would have no problems using the feature to setup Playoffs for Classics teams i create.

ESPN recently launched their All-Time Greatest College Football Playoff where they have compiled what they feel are the 32 greatest teams in the history of college football. Of those 32 teams, only 5 of the greatest teams in history comes from the current Big Ten Conference.

Included on their list are the following Big Ten football teams:

» 1968 Ohio State
» 1941 Minnesota
» 1986 Penn State

Another example of what a Tournament/Playoff mode would do for added replay value in the game.

I mean seriously for the guys who don't care about a playoff system that is your choice....but there are some guys who could also make great use of such a feature even if it's not included in a Dynasty mode for this year.

In fact I'd be willing to bet money if EA used a Playoff system this year you'd have more guys on these forums at OS who would download classic teams and use the Playoff Mode outside of Dynasty mode more than they would use the single player Heisman mode inside of Dynasty.

I personally agree that the patch seems pretty darn unrealistic. However, with all of the talk surrounding the playoff recently, I really wish they'd have just thrown it in there so they could tweak it for the next couple years.

I can see it now, broken logic results in my final four being.
#1 Alabama (12-0) vs. #4 Kent State (11-1, with 7 wins over FCS Midwest)
#2 Boise State (12-0, still in MWC) vs. #3 Toledo (12-0, one win over Kent State, the rest were hogwash)

I agree with this! It already seems to take EA's team 6 months to come up with a new marketing campaign for a game that is pretty much similar to the last.

Pus, if it's going to be in the game, it needs to actually be in the game (right EA?). I wouldn't want some rigged up playoff format that doesn't actually exist.

the committee will be hell for them to replicate because theres no specific formula to picking the 4 teams. especially that first year when they have to put it in the game before actually seeing it work. which might lead to them saying screw it and just put the top 4 teams from one poll or a polls average.
