^^ But then, isn't the game playing at 800x600 resolution with low textures?

I was just on the link I posted and some guys are playing on 1920x1080. So you might not have to settle for low settings.

My current setup is nowhere near $800, and I'm enjoying NBA 2K12 in full detail, 1920x1080, everything on high.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 3.2GHz
4 GB DDR2 RAM
NVidia GTX 460 1GB
