Re: NCAA Football 13 Demo Is Out, Post Your Impressions Here

As much flack as NCAA has taken in recent weeks, I thought the demo played very well in the short time I had with it this morning.

I won't buy b/c I'm not a big college fan, but the gameplay felt good. Running the ball felt amazing. The cutback juke felt on point, and allowed me to find creases to get some good yards. The passing game felt good as I was able to squeeze through some tight windows; I threw a beautiful pass with Barkley into the endzone near the sideline for a TD.

Doesn't mean the game can't improve of course, but for a small sample size (only played this morning), I thought the game played really well.

Played two games last night and absolutely loved. I don't critique games as much as some but I didn't have any gripes about NCAA 13 at all. LOVED the studio updates and the bottom line during the game and the leading of the WRs was awesome. Also really like the WR and DB animations while the ball was in the air. Can't wait til July 6th (EA Sports season pass!)

Commentary still pretty much the same. Only played one game though. I did hear a few new lines. Hopefully in dynasty the commentary will be better

Re: NCAA Football 13 Demo Is Out, Post Your Impressions Here

I will say that I thought the game played great in the few games I got in. Only problem I had was the difficulty it was on as I was winning every game by huge amounts. In one game as I was Oregon vs USC I was up 49-10 at the end of the third and I just called it quits.

Granted I have been testing out the passing mechanics so the naturally leads to higher scores, but I was throwing for 80% almost every game. Sideline passes are great as players really try to get their feet down and it looks good. I do like all the new catch animations but have yet to see a diving one as I really haven't had the need for it to come into play.

But I do feel the game played great, just wish I could adjust the difficulty and see how the computer plays on harder difficulties.

O and I would also like to add that screen logic seems great as the linemen tend to get on somebody and you can really get some nice gains. Only problem I ran into was where I was seeing how long if possible for the computer to pick up on running the same play. I ran the HB slip screen about 10 times in a row and it took awhile for the computer to catch on, but once they did it seemed to never work the rest of the game.

The running game and overall game speed feels quicker than last year. I ran one up the middle and sidestepped the backer and got a nice play out of it. Only played one game so far but it feels good. On another note the game does not feel like it's true HD -the zoom is further out but the players looks a bit pixellated on my 65 inch HD screen. Will have to pop in 12 to see if it's different but I recall it looking a little sharper last year.

the field does look nice though

I ran a couple of screen and had the HB drop them on me - which is a shame because he had the blocking ahead of him

Also, I know who is in the Big 12. Look at my avatar. .
They get spaced out further with longer quarters.

Re: NCAA Football 13 Demo Is Out, Post Your Impressions Here

Alright, so I'm probably a bit late, but I started playing the NCAA 13 demo last night on Xbox. The first thing I desided to do was the Heisman Challenge, I put Griffen on Baylor just to see how it works. My first thoughts (before I played the Demo) about the Reaction Time was that it wouldn't be all that great, but it really allowed me to watch a bit of the Read and React Defence and so far it looks pretty good. I just wish we could look at the replays and really get a closer look at it. But aside from that I want to point out a great defencive play made by Kansas State, I was of course controling Griffen, I rolled out to the right, then throw back across to the right (I know always a very bad choice) and threw a pretty good pass to my tight end. The player covering him was a step or two behind him and tried to knock the ball away or pick it off, and my Tight end almost made the catch himself, but dropped it. Now another DB come over and istead of like in NCAA 12 tring to go for the ball like it was right in front of his face, actually dove for and caught the ball leading to an amazing pick. I though ti was a great play and felt it show be heard.

Now just a little while ago I was playing as LSU against Bama, I got a chance to check out the screen pass and the option play. I didn't run to many options, but from what I saw, the new option system works pretty good, and I didn't see any of the BS in 12 where you would toss the ball behind the running back. As for the screen passes they look great, the screen is one of my best plays even in 12 with the "Moon ball" I was good at it, now I'm twice as good with the new Passing system, which to be honest took a bit of getting use to for me, but it works pretty good, and I like it. Last but not least when I was on defence, one of Bama's WR ran a streak down the sideline, and had my DB pretty much beat, my Safety had to come over to help, and the QB unloaded with a great pass. As the WR ran down field he took about 3 or 4 step out of bounds before the pass got to him, and when it did both he and my Safety went for the ball, the WR tipped the pass the dropped it. A flag was thrown and I started to think "Okay their going to call Roughing the Passer or Pass Interferance." but I was wrong the called Illegal Touching, the penalty where if the play steps out of bounds and tries to catch the ball, again I was amazed. I am really glad they added this penalty and I can't wait to see what other penatlies are in the game now.

So far I'm pretty happy with how the game looks and feels and can't wait to see how the full game is. Sorry this was so long I just wanted to get everything in my head out, thanks for your time.
