I think it's a great addition and a smart business move to create a preorder incentive so kudos on that front 2K. However, if this isn't included in the PC version pre-orders as well then that is a huge disappointment. I've been playing NBA2K on the PC ever since 2K9, and I don't see myself moving away from the PC modding community anytime soon. So if 2K forgot about their loyal PC fanbase, and didn't include the All Star weekend add on for the PC version that is extremely upsetting to me. Hopefully it is in the PC version, and just not included in the press release. Though I highly doubt that is the case....

You have to preorder to get this?
That is beyond stupid.

You have to remember the business side of game development, and marketing. Creating incentives to make people want to preorder a game is just the nature of the beast. In a perfect world would this be on every copy of the game from day 1? Sure, but this is the new age of gaming...

I don't see the issue. The first press of the game is probably going to have the code in it...I doubt you're actually going to have to preorder it. If you buy on day one, you'll probably get the same thing.

Which, then, begs the question, why not just preorder it if you know you're going to buy it on day one?

Practically EVERY major game, if not every major game offers some sort of pre-order bonus these days. Battlefield, Madden, Max Payne, Batman, Call of Duty, etc. etc. etc. Hell some have location-specific preorder content. Where's the outrage over those? This has become a fairly standard practice nowadays. It's incentive for getting people to preorder. But you feel they should be giving some sort of "thank you for purchasing the game" to fans? When the game already offers BY FAR more default content than any other sports game? Give me a break. I really don't get why this game is held to some ridiculously high standard by some.

I'm not sure he's saying the fans deserve a big "thank you". I think he was just referring to 2K's statement of how this pre-order special was their way of saying thank you to the fans. And admittedly, it's a funny thank you to offer a feature to only one set of fans (those who pre-order):
Quote:
“The NBA All-Star package is our way saying ‘thank you’ to fans for their ongoing love of the NBA 2K series,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. “This content provides a ton of depth and value to our fans, and it’s just the beginning of a lot of big news about NBAŽ 2K13.”

It's nice to see that 2K is bringing this back, the bad part is that they make it available to pre-order customers. Kinda' says a lot about the confidence in your own product when you can't put something that is in the game in real ife into your video game and make it available to everyone. It suggests to me that the sales aren't there to keep 2K afloat for much longer and now they are desperate for any gimmick. Two things come to my mind immediately. What will 2K take out next (and then provide as something "new" in a year or two), and more importantly, how much longer is 2K going to be around? Judging their the decisions they've made with their other products, in addition to 2K, most likely gone within 2-3 years.

I don't play those other games so that is why this bothers me so much. I really don't give a damn what they do because I don't play them. That would be like you telling me that my favorite cereal box shrunk their box years after every other cereal box on the market being shrunk as well. So because it happened to the other cereals I should just shutup and take it since everyone else did it? I think not.

I am pissed off and telling me who else has pre-order perks doesn't change my stance.
