A Guide to Hockey for The Hockey Illiterate (Part One)

It’s a clichéd notion, but there’s still some truth that hockey, of all the big four North American sports, is the Ringo of the bunch. Make no mistake though, its stock is certainly back on the rise in America. The TV ratings on NBC and its various affiliates — OLN, Versus, whatever the Peacock has decided to call it this week — have been steadily rising, and it’s now beginning to feel en vogue all over again to be a fan of the sport. So for those of you who may want to get into the game, as well as the video game, here’s a primer to get you started.

Please just explain the offside rule. Ive been watching hockey for 3 years now (my Hawks finally being good got me into it) and I still do not get this. Soccer's offside rule is pretty straightforward and this one probably is too but i still don't get it. If someone who sees this post has time to explain it that would be awesome.

Offside in hockey is almost like it is in soccer. In hockey the puck must past the blue line before another player on your team does.
I use to be so confused about this rule too.

Online Team Play in the NHL series is my favorite mode in all of sports gaming. For those of you on the fence, give it a shot just for that.

The hockey player can be past the blue line before the puck is over the line as long as he has complete control of the puck while he enter past the blue line

Hahaha I laughed at this. Soccer's offside rule is much more complicated than Hockey's.
