And you gathered this from a teaser video how?

I do know the attributes effects is tied to the shooting section and game speed and player acceleration

i think the only way to find the seperation between super stars& Veterans& AHL & Rookies is to go to the target practice and look at the shot speeds

from what i discovered by this dude who was doing them long time ago
he said it was Attributes Effects: 5

he currently has it set at : Shot Power : 3/3 and Slap Shot Power: 5/5,
Attributes Effects: 5

They need to fix AI, sim engine and stick physics. It feels like there is glue in players sticks. And also I cant tackle player so that he gets injured? That is stupid.

I play with increase attribute effects up, as it does actually allow better players to be better.

But not enough. They really need to address something like this, and add in morale, player motivation, clutch ability, finishing touch, etc... to make players seem like they have personality to them.

Unlike many other sports games, NHL feels 100% like a game, while in Madden, Fifa, MLB and even NBA, I've been able to feel like I'm managing people, not numbers.

Re: NHL 13 Teaser - The Next Gameplay Revolution is Coming

I've had some contact with the development team over the years and in general been following the product closely. So I have a good idea of what this trailer is pointing to. A lot of us in the community over at thebreakaway.net started complaining about the bad checking, puck & skating physics a few years back. EA took note and mainly worked on the checking/contact the last two years. Based on what I heard in the past (it was too much work to do both skating & checking physics all in one year) NHL 13 was going to be the year they revamp the skating physics.

As far as what the trailer is showing, the majority of the trailer is just footage from NHL 12 (you can see the NHL 12 logo on the side boards) and its just referring to the first gameplay revolution they had on the current run of NHL games. Then at the end of the trailer it briefly shows what seems to be some NHL 13 footage with 3 quick cuts of skates on the ice which is hinting at the new skating engine that I believe will be fully revealed on Friday. There's also supposed to be another teaser released today.

A new skating engine is great. I have a few more ideas that they need to touch on also.

They need to make it harder to dump pucks. It is too easy to dump the puck, especially on the penalty kill. They need to make board play matter. A huge part of an NHL game is down low against the boards. They need to make the game much sloppier, and what would help this is a 100% loose puck. This would create the need for dump and chase.

With this new skating engine, they really need to hit agility hard. Say you're on the penalty kill. The CPU tries to pass it from defender to defender, but you get a stick on it. You should be off to the races now because you are already facing down the ice, while the defenders need to turn around. It takes a second to turn around on skates, which is why this almost always results in a breakaway in real hockey.

Definitely. The defenders catch up WAY too quickly. I haven't had a legitimate breakaway since NHL 10.

Does anyone really care where I sent this from?

Look at my slider settings if you`d like to see some breakaways,....especially if you have a broken L3 button and no longer have the hustle feature available to you.

The issue is the cpu players can hit max hustle in milliseconds,..faster than humans can....so even with a working L3 button you would need to give the human a minimum +1 click advantage in player acceleration.

With a broken L3 button,use a +2 advantage.

I suggest using a game speed of 3 and player accel at 6/4 (hum/cpu) for broken L3 buttons and at least 5/4 for those able to use hustle.

Fatigue is also in play,....set cpu fatigue at 6 and human at 5,...fatigue recovery at 1 for both.

players that aren`t gassed always have a good accel when you switch to them, which is also what helps with those with broken L3 buttons,so keep this in mind.
Gassed players lack this jump,....but the player accel settings keep your guys from playing like they are skating in thick goopy mud, they skate how a gassed player would skate.

Sorry, forgot to add,...this is all based on using Classic view.
I`m sure that if you are playing as a skater in a view closer to the ice that game speed and player accel might be different.

I prefer to play the game, unless playing as a goalie, in the Classic view as I prefer to see/play more like as if I were in the stands controlling the player,....instead of an up close, over the shoulder or close to first person POV
