Hopefully they actually work this year, but saying "Penalties actually work this year!" Isn't necessarily a jaw dropping back of the box feature, it's actually quite embarrassing that they don't work like they are suppose to. So hopefully they get revamped but not necessarily touting it.

Has EA ever implemented anything without it being broken? Its either overdone or under. I see this as feature they're going to mess up. Basic physics would solve alot of the psychic play, just basic foot planting, momentum and change of direction along with working attributes...
It would probably solve a lot of problems but I don't think it's key to solving the problem. 2k didn't have momentum and foot planting problems and they didn't have a RTP engine.

Community: "Fix defensive reactions!"
EA: "Ok"
Community: "lol, w/e."

Lots of features have bugs during iteration. That's true for many games, not just sports games. I think the tackling in NCAA/Madden 12 has been a positive addition.

I've been asking for a read and react defensive AI system and finally.... finally... they're giving a shot. Unfortunately, the offensive players need to have keys that they react to as well...not just the defense.

I'm cautiously skeptical as to how they will implement this, but at least they've finally acknowledged that the gameplay needed to improve by changing the programming logic for the players.

On a side note, I wonder if the passing game changes are related to similar programming logic adjustments on the offensive side. One can only hope.

Actually foot planting, momentum, etc have absolutely ZERO to do with the psychic defenses. The reason people like myself have been calling for a change to the programming logic for years is because a read-and-react defensive system would be how to change the psychic gameplay. As it is now, a QB throws the ball (A) and the AI decides it's going to knock it down or get the INT (C), so the game creates some ridiculous animation to fill in the middle (B). This is why you get psychic DBs and Superman Linebackers.

A read and react programming logic setup gives all players a key to react to. They may react quicker or slower, incorrectly, etc. They may also execute their reaction poorly. Either way, this makes the plays dynamic and unpredictable, AND more heavily weighted on each individual players' abilities and ratings within the game.

Now can EA deliver it with that kind of execution? We'll have to wait and see.

Re: NCAA Football 13 Features New Passing System, Enhanced Commentary and More

Like many here, I am cautiously optimistic. But I do like what I am hearing.

Sights and sounds: Seems like I am in the minority, but I love the run outs. I watch them everytime. I played an entire season with Colorado just because of the Buffalo. The more the better for me.

New Passing: This could be fantastic. But I wan't to see it to believe it. Over the years of sports gaming, I have often been disappointed with these types of claims, and how they were executed. But I am certainly intrigued.

In game hilights could be another big winner for the offline franchise crowd like myself. Hopefully they will have a mechanism to figure out what games I care about. If I am a top SEC team, I probably don't want my game interrupted with an update from the Sunbelt. However if I am a Sun Belt team battling for a top spot and a Bowl bid, I probably DO care about another Sun Belt battle......but won't really care much about what is going on in the MAC.
